Spring is almost here. Major League Baseball Spring Training has started. Opening day for MLB is March 29, 2018, for all teams. That means Little League is about to start also in the Hood River Valley. Little League registration has already started. Early registration price, through March 5, 2018, is $55. Reminder - The Hood River Bridge will have intermittent single-lane closures on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, from 9am - 3pm. The closures are due to work crews replacing roadway signs on the bridge. Closure delays of up to 20-30 minutes can be expected between 9am - 3pm, depending on traffic volume. Please plan accordingly. Flaggers will be directing traffic on the bridge during the sign replacement delays. Emergency response vehicles will be able to use the bridge during the intermittent closures, if necessary. The Hood River Bridge will be closed for fours hours, from 11pm to 3am the evenings of October 11-12, 2017 and October 12-13, 2017. This is in addition to the hour-long closures scheduled for Oct 9, 2017, and Oct 10, 2017. The 4-hour complete closures these two evenings are to minimize daytime traffic impacts. The late-night closures are for strain gage testing of the lift span. Again, travelers should plan for late night 4-hour closure delays of the entire bridge on Oct11th-13th. There will be extended, full closures of the Hood River Bridge on Monday, October 9, 2017, and Tuesday, October 10, 2017. The complete closures will likely last from 40-60 minutes each. The closures are due to a series of complete lifts of the bridge span. These closures are expected each day between 9am to 3pm. Again, travelers should plan for up to 60-minute delays of the entire bridge on Oct 9th and Oct 10th. Needless to say, this will cause major delays lasting longer than the closures.
