Last Friday, the Columbia Gorge Aeromodelers had an indoor fly-in session. Here is a short video our our son, Sam, flying one of the other member's planes. Sam does not yet own an indoor capable plane - sure he will be looking to acquire one soon though.

Last Friday, while Ben and I were road tripping to Seattle for the Seahawk game, Sam, our older son was flying indoors at May Street Elementary.
Sam is a member of Columbia Gorge Aeromodelers, a remote control flying club. He joined in November 2009 and quickly learned to fly. Each weekend, he was at the field flying. As he learned, he wanted to get his own plane, rather than flying other member's planes. By the end of the summer he acquired two planes and was flying each one proficiently. … (2 comments)

I'm proud to introduce the newest member of our family, Jessa, a 8-lb chihuahua. We adopted her this summer from the Hood River Adopt-A-Dog program. Jessa joins our other three shelter dogs and rescue cat. I probably don't need to tell you that the rescue of shelter animals is a cause about which we feel very strongly. To that end, I'll be occasionally introducing some of the available pets at the Adopt-A-Dog program. We can't imagine our lives without each of our pets and would love to play a part in helping other deserted, given up or lost animals find their forever … (7 comments)

Last weekend, the Seahawks beat the Rams to win the NFC Western Division. Ben, our ten year old, asked to go to the playoff game.
Tickets were purchased - 4 of them so older brother and a football playing friend could go too. Our oldest decided to spend the weekend flying remote control airplanes with the local RC club and hanging with Mom. Two of Ben's friends eagerly signed up for the road trip. We left Hood River at 4pm - here's a pic of the crew in their Hood River Gold football jerseys.

I watched the Seahawks/Rams game with our ten year old. The one who just started playing football this year - he's hooked. After the game was over he asked "Can we go to the playoff game next week. I want to see the Saints play the Seahawks".
I told him, let's see if we can get tix - surprisingly, we could. A few minutes later Ticketmaster charged me for the tickets and an obscene service charge.

The town of Hood River, Oregon rang in the holidays Friday, December 3rd with its annual Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting ceremony. It was truly a Norman Rockwell-worthy evening as brilliantly decorated store fronts invited people in and huge numbers of bundled folks lined glittering Oak Street for the parade. We walked in the parade with the Hood River Adopt-A-Dog foundation with our newest addition, Jessa, whom we rescued in July. I saw a short note on Yahoo Sports the other day about the next temporary home of the Portland Beavers. They are moving to Tucson, Arizona, at least for the 2011 season. Ultimately, the plan is for the Beavers to be located in Escondido, in Northern San Diego County.
The San Diego Padres Triple AAA team was booted from Portland due to the renovation of PGE Park for soccer and the lack of political will in the Portland area to develop a suitable stadium. Portland should have tried harder to keep a Triple A baseball team in the region.
