Many homeowners use Zillow's Zestimates when they try to determine the price of their home. Zillow will even email a monthly Zestimate update to homeowners if requested. Just how accurate are Zestimates in Wasco River County. Short answer, not very accurate or reliable. The algorithms used need a large population with an associated large number of homes. Wasco County does not have enough homes to measure the Zillow accuracy. Instead, the Wasco County Zestimate for your home is the Tax Assessor's value (which is not very accurate either), or one star in their 4-star rating system. Reminder - The Hood River Bridge will be closed for fours hours, from 11pm to 3am the evening of October 24, 2017. The 4-hour complete closure will minimize daytime traffic impacts. The purpose of the late-night closure is for strain gage testing of the lift span. Again, travelers should plan for a 4-hour closure of the entire bridge on Oct 24th from 11pm to 3am. The Port of Hood River is encouraging motorists to use the bridge crossing in The Dalles or Cascade Locks as alternative crossings during this time. There are two planned public hearings to review and discuss proposed 2018 Hood River Bridge toll rate increases. The first meeting is Tuesday, October 17, 2017. at 5:00pm. This is the regularly scheduled Port Commission meeting. The meeting location is 1000 East Port Marina Drive, Hood River, in the Port conference room. The second public hearing is scheduled for October 31, 2107. The toll rate increases are part of the 2017-18 Port of Hood River Budget and are recommended to take effect February 01, 2018. In the Wasco County real estate market, conditions are changing as more homes become available. In fact, the available inventory is the highest it has been since July 2015. Based on the most recent sales activity, there are over 5 months of housing inventory available for sale. This is quite a jump since the end of August 2017, when the available inventory was only 2.9 months. This is an opportunity for buyers given more inventory and a slowdown in sales. The Hood River Bridge planned 4-hour closure beginning at 11pm on Oct 12, 2017 has been CANCELLED. The bridge engineers and work crews were able to finish testing and equipment staging earlier than planned. So no closure on Oct 12th-13th. Nice job Port of Hood River.
