franklin county: "Weak economy slows January homes sales figures " - 02/25/09 01:09 AM
The title is the official word from the Columbus Board of Realtors, in a message sent to members this morning...
The email says:
"The following will be released to the media this morning, Feb. 25, 2009"
The facts:
"Weak economy slows January homes sales figures"
The hope? the spin?  The eternal Realtor optimism?
"$8,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit expected to boost spring"
Gary Parson's the 2009 President of the Columbus Board of Realtors tells real estate agents, the media etc. that consumer confidence will return with the warner weather and flowers this spring...
Let's hope so....

franklin county: The Christmas Puppy - 12/23/08 03:30 AM
Did you ever get a puppy for Christmas growing up?
We did.  When I was in 6th grade, Missy, a Basset Hound, whose real name was Mistletoe became a part of our family. Missy was an AKC registered Basset Hound. We got her from a family who bred Basset Hounds, we adopted Missy and another family we knew adopted her brother Albert.  We actually got Missy weeks before Christmas, a pre Christmas present.  That sweet little droopy eared dog and six kids ranging from eleven to  four, it must have been one crazy Christmas.  She was sweet when she was a … (7 comments)

franklin county: Gas Prices - "I'm Mad as Hell...." - 04/24/08 12:33 AM
Missy Caulk Tweeted: missycaulk @MaureenMcCabe I filled up yesterday and it was 3.69.99, so basically 3.70. Why are people not outraged? Are we numb to this?
Missy's Tweet on Twitter made me think of "I'm Mad as Hell ... and I'm not going to take it anymore."
That's a quote from the movie Network, from 1976... I have to admit I have never seen the movie... and I believe it is probably way over my head, but I have seen this clip... he (Howard? Harold? Beale) says something about oil prices his rant... 2008 News - Gas Prices I was … (59 comments)

franklin county: Columbus got an F - how did YOUR city do? - 05/02/07 08:00 AM
The American Lung Association does not grade on a curve!
Los Angeles (weighted average 80.8 days of ozone)  got an F on their air.  So did Columbus Ohio (weighted average 6 days of ozone.)  Of course we've heard about Los Angeles smog and ozone for years.  No surprise there at all.  I heard that the number two city was Pittsburgh PA.  Surprise!  Then I heard Cincinnati, Cleveland and Indianapolis all got F's.
I thought I was listening to a local radio station so I was sure Columbus must have done better since I never heard them say how the air in Columbus was … (12 comments)

Inventory dropped in Franklin County in December 2006. As usual some people took their home off the market over the holidays, but there is still more inventory than a year earlier.  Franklin County sales were down overall in December from November 2006 and from December sales of a year earlier, but not as much as in some Central Ohio counties.  The Franklin County properties represented in the graph and the table above are all single family, townhouse and condominium listings and sales in Franklin County.   The average days on market was 18 days longer in December 2006 than a year earlier and up five … (0 comments)

franklin county: What you get for $200,000 in Central Ohio - Condo - 11/19/06 11:38 PM
Floridian Leanne Payntor's blog about what you get in a condo in various parts of the country for under $200K inspired me. I was just going to respond with a comment on Leanne's Blog but after this much research, I'm writing my own blog and commenting on Leanne's.   Leanne wrote: "Many of you have probably seen HGTV's show called "What You Get For The Money" at some point."
Leanne compared her Sunrise Florida (outside Fort Lauderdale) listing to condos in:
Brookline, MA (outside Boston), Cary, NC (outside Raleigh), Fort Worth, TX, St. Paul, MN,  Lakewood, CO (outside Denver), Scottsdale, AZ (outside Phoenix), Lake Forest Park, WA … (4 comments)

franklin county: Worthington Ohio Haunted House - 08/26/06 03:14 AM
A Worthington Ohio Haunted House
Remember the allure of ghost stories when you were a kid?  Remember being a kid and there was a house in town that everyone told stories about?  Stories that it was a haunted house. Or the people who lived there were "different" or spooky or scary?  Remember ..you'd creep up to the front door on a dare? Knock on the front door? Ring the bell? Play 'ding dong, ditch"?  The  really 'wild kids' threw rocks at the windows or pulled other pranks?
I'd  never heard the kids in Worthington considered a house on the south end of Worthington in the Davis Estate neighborhood … (4 comments)

franklin county: Worthington a New England village in Central Ohio - 08/24/06 01:16 PM

Worthington Ohio is a transplanted New England Village, settled by people from Connecticut.  Worthington is a Columbus suburb inside the 270 outerbelt. Worthington has a village green that is still used today, but cows do not graze there as they once did... (there are cows down the road but that's a different story... )  The village of Worthington was founded in 1803.
