The Columbus Dispatch reported yesterday that the Residences of Creekside and in fact the total multi-use development known as Creekside on the Big Walnut Creek in downtown Gahanna was sold. According to the local newspaper the receiver sold the development to Strathmore Development Co. of Michigan. The Columbus Dispatch said:
“The three-building property was purchased yesterday by Strathmore Development Co. for $10.5 million after several months of proceedings. The property includes upscale condominiums, as well as retail and office space and a parking garage.”

The Residences of Creekside is the residential component of a mixed use development in “Olde Gahanna” on the Big Walnut Creek known as Creekside Gahanna. The Residences of Creekside are luxury condominiums in this “town center” infill development. Tuesday evening I had an opportunity to visit The Residences of Creekside in Gahanna, the luxury condominiums built by The Stonehenge Company.
Reading this outside the Columbus area? Gahanna is a suburb of Columbus, outside 270, east of town. Port Columbus Airport is south of Gahanna. Gahanna is about 35,000 population. The 2000 census was 32,636 people. The area is served by the … (0 comments)

Gahanna homes for sale peaked about a month before most other Central Ohio areas I look at, in October 2008 with a 13.3 month supply of homes. That is down to a 7.9 month supply of homes at the end of June 2009.

You are NOT alone.
I am not picking on this Northeast Columbus area.... although I did write about this area before. Columbus or Gahumbusville
The puzzling effect is true in other parts of Columbus too.
8 Houses in the Gahanna school district 30 Houses in the Plain Local school district (New Albany) 25 Houses in the Westerville school district 43 Houses in the Columbus school district All homes are listed as single family, up to $250,000. I know where I live based on | BuzzDash polls It's sure easier when you meet someone locally to say I live in Worthington, rather than I live in the City of Columbus but the Worthington School District... or I live in the City of Columbus but in the Westerville School District and my mailing address is...

Gahumbusville is in Franklin County.
Gahumbusville is just south of 161.
Gahumbusville is in the 43230 ZIP code. Not all of the 43230 ZIP is Gahumbusville, the biggest chunk is Gahanna.
Gahumbusville is a very pretty area. Blendon Woods is in the Gahumbusville area... or wait maybe Blendon Woods in Gahumbusany?
If you have a Gahanna mailing address and live in the city of Columbus in the Westerville school district you live in Gahumbusville.
I asked a man recently if he was the John Doe* in Bexley, Delaware, Groveport, Reynoldsburg, or Westerville.

Gahanna built a parking garage when they built Creekside.
A Columbus Dispatch article written by Martin Rozenman Parking garages popping up in the suburbs does not mention the garage at Easton. Because the article is about "suburbs" and while Easton is suburban it is NOT a suburb. The Columbus Dispatch says:
"Planners are redesigning their town centers into more attractive, walkable locations that recall small-town America's past. They plot compact collections of stores, restaurants and offices that promote the mantra of the '00s: Live, work and play here. But where do workers, shoppers and residents park their cars?"

In a twist on the phrase "a nice place to visit but you wouldn't want to live there..." Columbus has occasionally been written of as a nice place to live but you would not want to visit here...
In September the New York Times wrote about Columbus in the Travel section as "a midwestern style capital"

CNNMoney.com recently honored 100 Small Cities in the US as Top Cities:
