I've identified a number of properties in Costa Rica that are great opportunities for investors.
Now, let me say that I have carefully chosen these properties because they have a number of great features about them that make them conducive to investment properties.  I will be sure to list those features for each property.

travel: Costa Rica Packing Tips. Be Prepared - PLEASE! - 02/06/08 05:48 AM
Okay, I wish I had read something like this before I headed down to Costa Rica the first time!  I had traveled a lot and always without issues.  Of course, my travel was limited to the US, Canada, and the Bahamas many years ago - which of course is very similar to home.
I thought I was well prepared:  I had my passport, money, credit cards, hotel reservation, transportation, flight, bathing suit, toothbrush...  What else could I need for a 3 day trip?
I found out the second night in Costa Rica, when my husband got the first migraine that he has ever … (3 comments)

travel: "One-Stop-Website" for Costa Rica Real Estate & Information - 12/13/07 03:01 AM
When I first decided to create a website for my business, I did it because of the frustrations I had experienced when looking at other websites trying to find information on Costa Rica real estate and other related issues.
My frustration wasn't that there weren't websites out there with information on Costa Rica.  If you do a Google Search for Costa Rica, you get about 203 MILLION results!!  Phew!  And of course, there are related websites on Costa Rica travel, vacations, hotels, weather, and more.  There are over 2.4 million websites on Costa Rica real estate alone!
Okay, so there were plenty of … (2 comments)

travel: Buying my Costa Rican Investment Property - Part 4: The Properties - 06/18/07 08:25 AM
Some of you who have been reading my personal account of buying an investment property in Costa Rica are a little anxious to hear about the properties that I saw there.  I've purposely left that information out so far because I knew that much of this information was already available, and I wanted to share information that wasn't yet available - what it's REALLY like buying foreign real estate, in Costa Rica.
And to be honest, I'm not going to focus too much on that either.  My reasoning is that I don't want to bias anyone towards - or against - a … (0 comments)

travel: Buying my Costa Rican Investment Property - Part 3: Getting There - 06/12/07 07:53 AM
The time has come!  I'm going to Costa Rica to buy an investment property!  This is exciting to me on so many levels.  One of my passions is traveling, and the other is real estate.  What better way to combine these two loves of mine.
Of course, I first have to get there - to Jaco Beach, where I'll be looking at some fantastic developments:  beachfront condos, cozy community single family homes, and hillside condos with a breathtaking, ocean view.
Due to a prior engagement, my husband and I were forced to make this a very short trip - 3 days!  So, we … (7 comments)

travel: Buying my Costa Rican Investment Property - Part 2: Safe & Stable - 06/04/07 05:39 AM
So I'm leaving for Costa Rica in less than one week, to tour numerous properties that Compass Properties is listing, and pick one to buy as an investment.  I'm pretty excited about it, and I tell just about everyone about it.
When I do, a conversation often begins and I'm often asked what Costa Rica is like.  I'm then slightly embarrassed when I have to tell them that I've never been there before!  Still, that is the reason why I'm going - so I can tell people first-hand what Costa Rica is like.
But even now, I can share some important information with … (0 comments)

travel: Costa Rica Real Estate FAQ - 05/29/07 06:51 AM
I can easily state that whenever I meet someone and we get to talking about Costa Rica real estate for the first time, I hear the same questions that I've heard before.  So, I put together this brief FAQ so that you can get quick answers to the most commonly asked questions and concerns about owning real estate in Costa Rica.

Yes.  In fact foreigners have the same property ownership rights as Costa Rican nationals.
