As the holidays rapidly approach many of us are already making our wish lists and planning what to buy for our loved ones. A handful of retailers have even announced their Black Friday deals already. Unfortunately for many children in Colorado the holidays are not a joyful time.
Each year more than 50 thousand reports of child abuse and neglect are filed in Colorado. Colorado also currently has more than 11 thousand children in foster care.

This past weekend Edgewater hosted the 5th Annual Celtic Harvest Festival. Although there are several Celtic festivals around Colorado throughout the year this one is definitely one of the most unique.
Citizen’s Park which sits between 22nd Ave and 24th Ave on Benton street was filled with Edgewater residents as well as people from all over Colorado who were coming together to get a fix of Celtic culture.

Last week, the City of Golden announced a new smoking ban than will further limit where smokers can light up around the Colorado city.
In January of 2006 the Colorado Clean Air Act went into effect prohibiting smoking in most public places such as restruants, bars, clubs and enclosed workplaces. Casinos were eventually added to the list of places where smoking was not allowed in 2008.
