seattle washington real estate: Seattle Real Estate: Minor Facelift For Your Seattle Washington Home - 07/14/09 08:59 AM
Looking for a great way to update your Seattle Washington area home?
How about this?
New insulated garage doors are not only more energy efficient, but also just completely change the facade of a house!  This is a typical 1990's home with the horrible, heavy, dangerous, and loud original garage doors.
Seattle homes can offer much better street appeal than this!  It doesn't look awful, but obviously dated and begging for a makeover.
Enter the home face lift:
Insulated garage doors let light in through windows and keep the garage cool in summer and warmer in winter.  I have seen this … (4 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Seattle Real Estate: Busy Weekend! Pacific Ocean & Ballard Townhomes in One Day! - 05/26/08 09:54 AM
I have been so busy this weekend!
Anyone else?  I took two days off to go to the ocean and even on those days off, I was doing real estate!  We have a beach house in Ocean Shores, WA and even on my walks to and from the waves, people were asking me for directions to get to a house!  I love going to the beach, and we always seem to catch the most beautiful days there - very lucky!  I am thrilled that we invested in such a great place and my kids love it.
We came back yesterday and … (3 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Seattle REO Resources For Buyers - 03/08/08 08:53 AM
Seattle REO is becoming more and more common in the real estate market.
There are tips and tricks and ways to avoid loopholes that are very important when purchasing a Seattle foreclosure.  These properties are generally distressed in most cases.  When people can't afford to make their payments they definitely can't afford a new roof or other repairs so deferred maintenance is a major issue.  It is extremely important to get an inspection and ask your REALTOR to look up the history on the property.
Sometimes detective work is part of the job with REOs.   If the obvious places aren't providing … (1 comments)

Seattle real estate and Seattle suburb real estate is extremely attractive right now and especially so for those home buyers looking to trade up to a new house!
Some Seattle buyers are looking for new construction and all the builder perks that come with Seattle or Seattle suburb new construction.  Some Seattle buyers might be looking to move up from a condo to a town home or from a townhome to a house.  Maybe a view of Puget Sound or a lake? Acreage for a horse? Waterfront on Mercer Island or in Lake Forest Park?  Larger square footage or a pool?  … (2 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Advertising Listings That Are Not Your Own...or just market info? - 12/22/07 02:51 PM
Seattle listings through email:
I know we all send out listings to prospects - it is a fabulous system in today's real estate world.  I personally like sending out emails to my clients with properties that I think they might like.  They love getting the emails and it is a perfect way to keep them up to date on the market.
Seattle Listings through Blogging:
Obviously, we can blog our own listings - this is a great way to get more exposure!  I have also seen some blogs that highlight certain cool houses on the market or recent sales in the area.  These highlighted … (12 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Seattle Real Estate: Renting vs. Buying.. - 12/22/07 02:18 PM
Seattle renting vs. buying...
The rental market is strong right now in Seattle and its suburbs, but which side of it do you want to be on?
Some benefits of renting:
Flexible - nothing to tie you down Less out of pocket in the short term (although in some cases, a mortgage is the same or less than your rent) No home maintenance to deal with Seattle real estate and its surrounding suburbs are the best investments you can make! Despite a bit of a slow down due to the current lending environment, we are still one of the most undervalued … (2 comments)

Seattle Kid Friendly Traveling Option!
I remember when I traveled alone with my first baby sixteen years ago - lugging that giant car seat all the way across the airport to change planes...while I also held my daughter and my bags...
Aaaah the joy of air travel with babies and toddlers...
I usually like to stick to writing about Seattle real estate and Seattle suburb happenings, but I had to share this tip.  Even if I only reach one person it will be worth it!!!

Seattle Real estate: Water invasion: Making sure again to keep things water tight!
In the last week or so since the flood clean up has been going on, I have heard from some of Seattle and Seattle suburb neighbors, clients, and friends and how their Puget Sound houses are faring through the recent rains.
Gutters and Downspouts...........
One of my neighbors has had to strip out the carpet in their basement because their gutters were not properly maintained.  The downspouts weren't connected and the water infiltrated their home!  What a mess! They are putting in tile now in case it ever happens again, but … (0 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Seattle Real Estate: Foreclosure Finding Companies Have a Dirty Little Secret... - 12/16/07 02:42 PM

Seattle:  Ask your Realtor!
I have sold a lot of preforeclosure, foreclosure and short sale properties in Seattle and the Seattle suburbs....  I have both listed them for banks and service companies as well as sold them to investors. I am always amazed when my clients or prospective clients ask if they should pay money to join or subscribe to a website or newsletter which lists "current" foreclosures.
1. The information is already available...
The dirty little secret that these information gathering foreclosure real estate companies and sites don't want you to know about is that the exclusive foreclosure properties on their lists are already for … (2 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Seattle Real Estate: Relocating to Seattle or a Seattle Suburb? - 12/16/07 06:33 AM
Seattle Relocation? Let me help you with the maze...
Seattle real estate is more than just finding a house - it also involves finding a neighborhood or suburb of Seattle that really feels like home.  Seattle has some of the best neighborhoods and suburbs!  Each one is very special and has different offerings.
Some things to consider when moving to Seattle or any of the Seattle suburbs:
Seattle School Districts:  If you have children, make sure and check out the schools!  Seattle is serviced by Seattle School District, while many of the South Snohomish County cities and neighborhoods like Mountlake Terrace, Brier, and Edmonds are serviced by … (0 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Seattle Suburbs: Edmonds, WA: Art and Real Estate - 12/15/07 02:23 AM
Seattle suburb Edmonds, WA is breathtakingly gorgeous!
Edmonds, Washington is artful in itself with its sweeping Puget Sound and Olympic Mountain views or its sandy beaches.  The whole town is on a downward sloping hill oriented towards the water and looking off to lovely Kingston and islands in the sound.  The port of Edmonds is filled with boats and there is a huge walking path throughout the town and waterfront.  Fresh seafood is plentiful and the sounds of the ferry boat whistle and the train just add to the ambiance.
Seattle suburb Edmonds is filled with artful little shops and boutiques and there … (0 comments)

Computer Science Voodoo...  I can do it too!
There is a new gimmick being touted in the Seattle real estate market: computer science.
Have you heard of it?
R*df*n has come out with their groundbreaking computer science method of looking at your home's marketability.  Smoke and mirrors for just plain old stats?  Apparently, the Today Show thought it was worthy of national attention!  All I can say is that it must have been a slow news day......................
In fact, there was nothing groundbreaking about any of the BIG TIPS, but I am impressed with their PR person!

seattle washington real estate: King County Flood Debris: Drop it off! - 12/12/07 04:41 AM
Seattle surrounding area flooding clean up:
The King County Council approved a plan to allow King County residents to be able to drop off flood damaged debris at no charge at their local dump site.  This applies to all King County residents except those who live in Seattle and Milton which is not part of that disposal district.
Proof of residence must be provided and workers will be on site to make sure free loads are all flood debris related.  If you have a mixed load, make sure and separate the flood debris from the regular garbage because the regular will get … (1 comments)

Seattle Real Estate and Remodeling -    Secret Message?
I love selling houses in Seattle!  I have a lot of fun with my job, but it is really amazing when something cool happens along the way.................................
I recently sold a gorgeous view home in the Seattle suburb of Edmonds, WA..it was one of the most unique homes I had ever seen or had the pleasure to sell. In addition to being a view home, it had a really unique floor plan. The uniqueness probably caused it to be on the market just a tad longer than it normally would have been, but it was … (2 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Seattle Real Estate: Move here for the outdoors! - 12/08/07 06:23 PM
 Seattle:  Get out there!
Seattle Residents know it rains here, but we don't stay inside all the time!!! Seattle and its suburbs are lucky enough to be in King County and King County has a huge park system!
The park system of King County is so big in fact, that they call it "Your big backyard!" King County has 180 parks and 175 miles of trails with a combined acreage of 25,000 acres! One of my favorite trails is the Burke-Gilman trail – it starts in Seattle down in Shilshole Bay and goes all the way up through the University District, Lake … (3 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Craigslist Ideas: Generating the most leads..... - 12/08/07 02:55 PM
Craigslist knocking.....
It is pretty common policy these days to advertise your listings on Craigslist, and I think it is a great idea!  I have found I get a ton of response from my advertising on Craiglist.  My phone rings off the hook, actually, whenever I put on a fresh ad for my listings.
I always find it curious that these potential prospects call instead of email since they are already obviously internet oriented.  I think that my ad verbage creates a sense of urgency which compels these normally email people to pick up the phone.
But what about advertising for buyers?  … (9 comments)

seattle washington real estate: Seattle Real Estate Suburb: Mountlake Terrace Wa Flood Update - 12/08/07 01:33 PM
Seattle Suburb: Mountlake Terrace Wa Flood Relief Update (edit/delete)
Seattle Suburbs: update on area floods:  Seattle Suburb of Mountlake Terrace might have help!
The city of Mountlake Terrace, Washington has declared a state of emergency after the flood damage from the early December 2007 flood has been assessed.  This means that affected residents might be eligible for some reimbursement from the federal government for flood damage caused by this latest storm.
This is possible good news for anyone that had their basement flooded or other storm related damage.
