Thirty two years ago Atlanta was paralyzed by a freak afternoon winter storm that shut down traffic in all directions.
Motorists were stranded on every highway in the region, and eventually were forced to abandon their vehicles and set out on foot as the most basic human instinct of all directed them:
Survival.
Fast forward to 2014. With all of our meteorological technology and instant communication, one would think that a catastrophic event of that magnitude could never happen again.
You would be wrong.
