If you enjoy Americana at it finest, then Newnan Georgia should be on your short list of places to consider for relocation. Newnan is the County Seat of Coweta County, Georgia, and it is known as the "City of Homes." During the civil war, General William Tecumseh Sherman did not pass through Newnan, so many of its antebellum homes survive to this day! Just south of downtown Newnan is the cities' newest park! Having just opened to the public in the Spring of 2008, Greenville Street Par is fast becoming one of Newnan's most popular urban destinations. And no wonder. It's an easy walk from the square, or there is plenty of parking along Greenville Street. The park is designed to accommodate strollers and wheelchairs. The highlight of the park is the open air amphitheatre that doubles as a grassy play surface. Coweta County Georgia is a bedroom community just Southweat of Atlanta, and is a thriving community that offers all of the opportunities and amenities of big city living with a small town atmosphere. Downtown Newnan is pristine, a movie set courthouse square surrounded by shops and restaurants. It is a walking town, interspersed by parks and greenspace. Country Music Superstar Alan Jackson returned to his hometown, Newnan Georgia, on Tuesday April 29 to sign autographs of music CD's and his wife, Denise Jackson's latest book: "It's All About Him: Finding the Love of My Life." The line extended out the door of downtown's Scott's Book Store and down the street, as friends and fans waited up to two hours to spend a few seconds with Newnan's most famous native son. It's raining here in Newnan Georgia. During most Springs of the past, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Spring is traditionally wet in our area, and Spring showers are part of the fabric of life here.
But last year was not a typical year. It did not rain much in the Spring, and even less in the summer, taking us into the worst drought we have experienced in a hundred years. The lakes were at an all-time low, and the news constantly reminded us that we only had about 45 days worth of water left.

Who is the world would want to eat a chili-cheese dog with onions AND raw oysters at the same time? Well, that question is answered every day at a small hole-in-the-wall in downtown Newnan, Georgia. I mean, this place is cool! It's deep and narrow and has the longest counter in town, lots of stools, and a few small tables for two. The menu is a weird combination of oysters, hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches. It's not a glamorous chain restaurant, just a mom and pop store on a side street with nice people and great oysters!
