new years: Goodbye to both year and career!

As the last few hours of 2015 wind down I look back on not only the year that was, but also on my career in real estate. For many reasons I had to retire from work and to move on to my next adventure in life. I will no longer actively participate in real estate brokerage. Instead I'll spend my time doing all of the things that working in real estate kept me from doing. Since I am no longer working, for the first time in my life I will TRULY be my own boss. As the clock struck midnight and the celebrants broke into Bobby Burns’ Auld Lang Syne, we all experienced both an ending and a new beginning! But the refrain of the ancient chorus is bittersweet. A reminder that in this journey we call life, we interact with many other souls along the same journey. So it is quite natural to miss those that are no longer with us. But there is comfort in our fond memories of days gone by and the enriching grace of influence that these people had on our lives and remains branded in our being. And so, we’ll (11 comments)

It’s nearly 5:00 A.M. and I just got back from a New Year’s Eve gig in Alabama. It is now very late (or early, depending on how you look at it) and I’m tired. These all-nighters are hard enough when you are young, but at my age they are bone wearying. It didn’t help that the American Legion was on Central Standard Time either, because 2012 actually arrived there an hour later there inOpelika than it did here inCowetaCountyGeorgia, which is on Eastern Standard Time. Exactly at midnight, we dutifully played “Auld Lang Syne” as the audience rose for New Year’s (14 comments)
