newnan: Newnan Georgia. Small town charm just minutes from big city Atlanta! - 11/10/13 09:48 AM
Situated thirty miles Southwest of Atlanta, Newnan Georgia combines the charm and ambience of an antebellum village with all of the conveniences and amenities of a big city.
The historic Newnan Downtown Square hasn’t changed very much over all of the years, but there have been some changes.
Since the opening of the New Justice Center on the south side of town, the old courthouse now houses some minor agencies and the Newnan / Coweta County Visitor Center. It’s a great first stop for those seeking information about what to see and do while visiting the area.
In addition to the … (1 comments)

newnan: It’s a great time to sell your Newnan Georgia home! - 04/05/13 01:38 PM
Now that Spring has finally arrived, the buyers are out in earnest looking for home for sale in Newnan GA.
The problem is that there isn’t enough inventory to satisfy the needs of the seasonal buyers. As a result many buyers are competing for the limited number of properties that are currently available.
We can’t guarantee that every house that is listed will sell. But we can state categorically that in is the best time to sell in years, and that those that have been sitting tight may want to have a real estate professional prepare a comparative market analysis for … (13 comments)

newnan: Small Town Touches Make Newnan Georgia Special! - 05/29/11 01:44 PM
In tethered basins dangling freeBright dabs against the azure airs.Le Jardin thrives where all can seeSuspended o’er the thoroughfares!
              Richard Weisser 2011
One of the special Summer touches in historic downtown Newnan is the numerous hanging baskets of beautiful flowers that punctuate the Old Courthouse Square.
Newnan takes great pride in the fact that one can still visit the downtown area just for the sake of being there and enjoying the sights and the ambience. Many locals meet after work just to walk and take it all in!
And of course, there are shops and restaurants for those that want to … (5 comments)

newnan: What sets your community apart from anyplace else? What makes Coweta County Georgia so special? - 02/20/11 01:10 AM

I once had a seller tell me that he wanted to move away from Coweta County because: “there: is nothing here!”
I asked him to explain and he said that there were no beaches or mountains or other geographical or geological features that sets Coweta County apart from anywhere else.
It is true that we don’t have the seaside aura of Cape Cod or the ski slopes of Vail. But Coweta County offers suburban sophistication combined with a rural landscape that offers the best of both worlds and yet has excellent housing prices combined with relatively low taxation that keep … (10 comments)

newnan: The first chill of the season in Newnan Georgia … and it feels great! - 10/04/10 01:13 AM

After a record-breaking hot summer that extended deep into September, we are finally enjoying some cooler temperatures here in the Newnan Georgia area.
When the fall weather is cool, crisp, and clear, there is a compelling desire to get outdoors and enjoy the near perfect conditions.
And like sleepy headed children rubbing their eyes in an attempt to adjust to the morning light, adults were out and about and trying to adapt to the clarity of the Autumn sunshine!
It is both invigorating and inspirational. And it feels great!

newnan: Welcome to Downtown Newnan Georgia USA. - 08/10/10 01:27 PM
Newnan Georgia is the seat of Coweta County. And although it only lies about 40 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta, it is a world away from the bug city!
Newnan still has a downtown square, and all of the historic downtown storefronts have been carefully preserved. As a matter of fact, the entire downtown area is registered as a National Historic district.
Downtown Newnan is still economically viable, with boutique shops, diverse restaurants, and professional offices all within a short walk of each other.
Parking is plentiful and always free. And there are three city parks within a one mile loop.

newnan: Real estate work was hot, hot, hot in Newnan Georgia today! - 06/22/10 01:16 PM
With temperatures in the 90’s and very high humidity, Summer is in full swing in Newnan Georgia.
But working in real estate was even hotter today for agents at my office, as the air conditioner cried “uncle” and decided to quit working. And as the temperature rose inside, so did the frenzy of activity.
Everyone was up for the challenge. After all, our clients come first and if that means if we have to work in the heat, so be it.
Fax machines faxed, copiers copied, and printers printed continuously as the offers and signed contracts made their way from office … (19 comments)

newnan: Coweta County Georgia still offers excellent home values in conjunction with an excellent quality of life. - 04/17/10 12:23 PM

Although Coweta County Georgia is in the metro Atlanta region, it still radiates a wonderful rural character and ambience while enjoying all of the accoutrements of modern urban living.
You are as likely to see a national chain restaurant or retail store as you are a pasture rife with livestock. So deciding to take a drive out in the “country” could be as easy as turning in the opposite direction.
The county enjoys low property taxes but still offers full time police, fire, and paramedic services. And all county schools have free bus service for all grades through high school.

newnan: Summergrove in Newnan Georgia. A true village in Coweta County. - 04/04/10 02:19 PM
Summergrove in Newnan Georgia represents the epitome of the village concept. It is actually one large, self sufficient community comprised of a multitude of separate subdivisions.
The village concept is a plan that includes housing, recreational amenities, and service businesses all located under the boundaries of the community. One can play a round of golf followed by a trip for a pizza buffet without ever leaving the neighborhood!
The 18 hole Summergrove championship golf course is considered one of the finest in Coweta County. It is both an excellent golf challenge as well as a scenic delight. The tract is rife … (6 comments)

newnan: Winter returns to Newnan Georgia! Snow in the south metro region! - 02/12/10 11:17 AM

As predicted, a snow squall blasted through the southern metro Atlanta region this afternoon, dropping from 2-5 inches of snow.
And while that may seem paltry, especially in those areas that have seen several feet of snow accumulation, keep in mind that we don’t have snowplows or other snow removal equipment. So we pretty much have to wait until it melts.
As temperatures drop into the 20’s tonight, the unsalted streets will glaze over with ice. And that always creates treacherous driving conditions.
But clean, white snow is beautiful, and although we only see it on rare occasions, it is … (23 comments)

newnan: Service with a smile no matter what the situation can really send the right message! And it can go a long way towards inspiring real confidence and trust! - 12/18/09 10:49 PM
Last week our office became part of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers. And since that is a completely new brand, the logistical changes that had to be implemented are dramatic.
Yesterday our office was scheduled for a sign swap. A new brand necessitates all new signs, riders, apparel and marketing items. The swap should have been relatively routine but Mother Nature had other ideas.
The storm that bombarded most of the eastern seaboard with snow was a cold, hard, driving rain in Newnan Georgia. The word blustery comes to mind, and when temperatures are in the thirties and … (21 comments)

newnan: It's Monday, and I'm ready to go and so are the home buyers! This is going to be a very interesting week! - 09/14/09 12:03 AM
As fall starts to set in, the real estate market in my area of Newnan Georgia seems to be invigorated with new energy!
Whether it's due to the current tax refund that is available, or the terrific prices combined with low interest rates, the pool of buyers that are ready to commit to a purchase has grown exponentially over the last two weeks.
We have always been busy, now we are busy getting deals done. There's a different sense of urgency in the air that is calling bargain hunters to action!
And even though we have a full schedule this week, … (20 comments)

newnan: TJ's Discount Meat and Seafood, A Newnan Georgia butcher and fish market. - 07/31/09 02:50 PM
Many of us long for the "good old days" before the giant supermarkets. A time where you purchased your daily grocery needs from specialty shops. And no market was more important to the preparer of the family meals than the local butcher shop.
Here, the careful shopper would decide on the dinner menu by looking over all of the fresh fare and deciding which item "looked good" for the nightly preparation ritual. If a special cut was desired, the butcher would gladly accommodate them.
TJ's Discount Meat and Seafood in Newnan is shop that takes one back to earlier times. The … (12 comments)

newnan: Summergrove in Coweta County Georgia is a great real estate value. - 07/23/09 03:13 PM
One of the largest neighborhoods in Newnan, Coweta County Georgia is Summergrove. Based on the "village" concept, the community incorporates all of the essential elements that combine to form a completely self-contained community.
Those desirable features include ample recreational opportunities, convenient shops and restaurants, and adequate housing selections in nearly every price range.
The keystone of the community is the 18 hole Summergrove championship golf course. Now open to the public, the challenging test is considered one of the best tracts for golfers of all skill levels in the county!
Another highlight is the 100 acre Lake Summergrove, which residents can … (6 comments)

newnan: What makes my hometown such a special place? In Newnan Georgia, it's community spirit! - 07/09/09 11:53 PM
Geographically speaking, my hometown offers nothing remarkable or out of the ordinary. There is no beachfront with crashing waves or tall peaks with mountaintop views. It is rarely a vacation destination, unless someone has family in the County.
But what makes my hometown one of the best places to live in Georgia is the people who live here, and the great spirit of community that allows our ever-expanding county to retain its small-town charm.
Our downtown area is alive and vibrant. People still gather here on the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Christmas, and for various festivals and tours throughout the … (13 comments)

newnan: Come and enjoy Newnan Market Days on the first Saturday of every month. - 04/29/09 01:24 PM
On the first Saturday of every month from April through December, local vendors set up shop around the old courthouse square for Newnan Market Days.
Hosted by Main Street Newnan, the once a month event brings citizens from throughout the county and beyond to historic downtown Newnan for local fare, crafts, and unique items available for purchase.
The event is typically from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. but on a beautiful day many of the vendors will stay as long as there is interest in their wares. And while you're downtown, you can visit the independent local merchants who comprise the … (7 comments)

newnan: Home buyers: Before you make an offer on a house, determine if the property is appropriately priced from the get-go. - 04/28/09 02:41 PM
In our local real estate market in Newnan Georgia, most homes are listed at fair market price based on condition and the market. Sellers have become savvier, and they understand that it takes a low list price to attract buyers.
But many purchasers lose buying opportunities because they believe that every house offered for sale is supposed to be delivered in perfect condition. So even though a property is deeply discounted, they expect to deduct thousands from their offers to replace old appliances or re-sod the yard,
But you can't ask the seller to take the hit TWICE for the same … (23 comments)

newnan: It's April 8 and 26 degrees in Newnan Georgia. We even had snow flurries yesterday in the Sunny South! - 04/07/09 11:55 PM
If there is one piece of advice that I give local horticulture enthusiasts, it is to never plant tender annual flowers or vegetables before "income tax day," April 15.
That's because there is always a minimal chance of frost in early April. When the weather turns warm in March, the desire to get out there and get the garden going is almost overwhelming, and every third year or so, a late frost can wreak havoc on the amateur gardener.
But a hard freeze this late in the year is almost unheard of. It is very destructive to our blooming azaleas and … (28 comments)
