I once had a seller tell me that he wanted to move away from Coweta County because: “there: is nothing here!”
I asked him to explain and he said that there were no beaches or mountains or other geographical or geological features that sets Coweta County apart from anywhere else.
It is true that we don’t have the seaside aura of Cape Cod or the ski slopes of Vail. After a record-breaking hot summer that extended deep into September, we are finally enjoying some cooler temperatures here in the Newnan Georgia area.
When the fall weather is cool, crisp, and clear, there is a compelling desire to get outdoors and enjoy the near perfect conditions.
And like sleepy headed children rubbing their eyes in an attempt to adjust to the morning light, adults were out and about and trying to adapt to the clarity of the Autumn sunshine!
It is both invigorating and inspirational. And it feels great!

Newnan Georgia is the seat of Coweta County. And although it only lies about 40 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta, it is a world away from the bug city!
Newnan still has a downtown square, and all of the historic downtown storefronts have been carefully preserved. As a matter of fact, the entire downtown area is registered as a National Historic district.
Downtown Newnan is still economically viable, with boutique shops, diverse restaurants, and professional offices all within a short walk of each other.
Parking is plentiful and always free. And there are three city parks within a one mile loop.

With temperatures in the 90’s and very high humidity, Summer is in full swing in Newnan Georgia.
But working in real estate was even hotter today for agents at my office, as the air conditioner cried “uncle” and decided to quit working. And as the temperature rose inside, so did the frenzy of activity.
Everyone was up for the challenge. After all, our clients come first and if that means if we have to work in the heat, so be it.

Although Coweta County Georgia is in the metro Atlanta region, it still radiates a wonderful rural character and ambience while enjoying all of the accoutrements of modern urban living.
You are as likely to see a national chain restaurant or retail store as you are a pasture rife with livestock. So deciding to take a drive out in the “country” could be as easy as turning in the opposite direction.
The county enjoys low property taxes but still offers full time police, fire, and paramedic services. And all county schools have free bus service for all grades through high school.

Summergrove in Newnan Georgia represents the epitome of the village concept. It is actually one large, self sufficient community comprised of a multitude of separate subdivisions.
The village concept is a plan that includes housing, recreational amenities, and service businesses all located under the boundaries of the community. One can play a round of golf followed by a trip for a pizza buffet without ever leaving the neighborhood!

As predicted, a snow squall blasted through the southern metro Atlanta region this afternoon, dropping from 2-5 inches of snow.
And while that may seem paltry, especially in those areas that have seen several feet of snow accumulation, keep in mind that we don’t have snowplows or other snow removal equipment. So we pretty much have to wait until it melts.
As temperatures drop into the 20’s tonight, the unsalted streets will glaze over with ice. And that always creates treacherous driving conditions.

Last week our office became part of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers. And since that is a completely new brand, the logistical changes that had to be implemented are dramatic.
Yesterday our office was scheduled for a sign swap. A new brand necessitates all new signs, riders, apparel and marketing items. The swap should have been relatively routine but Mother Nature had other ideas.

As fall starts to set in, the real estate market in my area of Newnan Georgia seems to be invigorated with new energy!
Whether it's due to the current tax refund that is available, or the terrific prices combined with low interest rates, the pool of buyers that are ready to commit to a purchase has grown exponentially over the last two weeks.

Geographically speaking, my hometown offers nothing remarkable or out of the ordinary. There is no beachfront with crashing waves or tall peaks with mountaintop views. It is rarely a vacation destination, unless someone has family in the County.

If there is one piece of advice that I give local horticulture enthusiasts, it is to never plant tender annual flowers or vegetables before "income tax day," April 15.
