retirement: Life After Retirement. The phone finally stopped ringing!
- 08/08/17 07:49 AM
It's been over two years since I stopped working. And I can honestly say I don't miss it one bit. Because I am now blessed with one of the greatest gifts of all: Silence! Blessed silence. After years of the phone ringing day and night the quiet permeates my existence in a way that never seemed possible before. One cannot overstate the therapeutic benefits of time uninterrupted by the persistent clanging of text chimes and ring-tones. Imagine being able to read without interference or to watch a television program in real time. It's a luxury that I never thought I could attain. I cannot think of (8 comments)
retirement: An important question to ask before investing for retirement.

What is one of the most important yet rarely asked questions about saving for retirement? This one eluded me at the time I was saving and now it's a cause of concern. I believe that everyone pays attention to where and how their money is invested. They pay attention to management fees and the safety of their hard earned money. And most qualified financial advisers can offer guidance and direction based on historical data and personal experience. And they can set up many vehicles for getting your contributions invested as conveniently as possible. So what's the question I forgot to ask? "How do I get my money out when I (14 comments)
retirement: Goodbye to both year and career!
- 12/31/15 09:47 AM
As the last few hours of 2015 wind down I look back on not only the year that was, but also on my career in real estate. For many reasons I had to retire from work and to move on to my next adventure in life. I will no longer actively participate in real estate brokerage. Instead I'll spend my time doing all of the things that working in real estate kept me from doing. Since I am no longer working, for the first time in my life I will TRULY be my own boss. I can finally determine my own schedule and do (46 comments)

(R Weisser 2012) It’s late August, and the mountains will retain their Summer dress for another month or so. But seasons change as life’s annual cycle continues. And the metaphor of these passings extends to life as well. I consider myself to be in the Autumn of my years, and Winter is just around the corner. The time will soon be here when I will not ne able to gather any more mast, (9 comments)
retirement: The Tuesday that is a Monday. It’s time to get back to work!
- 05/31/11 01:00 AM
While the calendar indicates that today is Tuesday, it is really difficult to not to confuse it with a Monday. After all, the day after a holiday always tends to pack a full schedule. And when the “Tuesday after” is also the last day of the month the to-do list is crammed with additional tasks that need to be completed by the end of the day. I have often wondered what it would feel like to retire from work. Is it like a permanent vacation? Do the days of the week even matter? Thanks to the real estate market over the (13 comments)
retirement: What the old façade starts falling apart, it’s time to take a deep breath and keep moving forward!

I have known for some time that I am no spring chicken. I have enjoyed many good years and plenty of awesome experiences in my time, but lately I find that a few things here and there aren’t exactly in mint condition! Although I have always felt young on the inside, the outside parts of my mortal coil are offering more protest with each and every physical endeavor. It’s perfectly normal of course, but it doesn’t make it any easier to accept. With retirement even more years away due to the recent economy, it seems as though the next few years (22 comments)
