retiring: Life After Retirement. The phone finally stopped ringing!

It's been over two years since I stopped working. And I can honestly say I don't miss it one bit. Because I am now blessed with one of the greatest gifts of all: Silence! Blessed silence. After years of the phone ringing day and night the quiet permeates my existence in a way that never seemed possible before. One cannot overstate the therapeutic benefits of time uninterrupted by the persistent clanging of text chimes and ring-tones. Imagine being able to read without interference or to watch a television program in real time. It's a luxury that I never thought I could attain. I cannot think of (8 comments)
retiring: Goodbye to both year and career!

As the last few hours of 2015 wind down I look back on not only the year that was, but also on my career in real estate. For many reasons I had to retire from work and to move on to my next adventure in life. I will no longer actively participate in real estate brokerage. Instead I'll spend my time doing all of the things that working in real estate kept me from doing. Since I am no longer working, for the first time in my life I will TRULY be my own boss. retiring: The Tuesday that is a Monday. It’s time to get back to work!

While the calendar indicates that today is Tuesday, it is really difficult to not to confuse it with a Monday. After all, the day after a holiday always tends to pack a full schedule. And when the “Tuesday after” is also the last day of the month the to-do list is crammed with additional tasks that need to be completed by the end of the day. I have often wondered what it would feel like to retire from work. Is it like a permanent vacation? Do the days of the week even matter? Thanks to the real estate market over the (13 comments)
