Perhaps you've seen my tutorial video on customizing Google Maps. I recorded that back in 2011. Over the past year, Google Maps received a pretty big makeover in how it looks. Besides adding photos to enhance our blog posts, we have the ability to also embed objects such as YouTube videos. These are not simple static objects like an image file and so they require a little different means to use them... but no worries it is not hard to do! The recent update for ActiveRain now allows you easier access to the HTML view on your blog posts. There used to be two tabs WYSIWYG and HTML to switch back and forth. Google Maps is my most often “go-to” mapping site. Including a map image on your web page or blog post is a great visual element to supplement your hyper-local content. Instead of posting a snapshot of the map, why not embed the map as an object. As such, your readers can dynamically pan and zoom to get more understanding. Furthermore, if you embed an actual map object, consider also that Google surely associates your map’s geo-location as evidence of your local page content.
