cary: Eat Your Vegetables Or There'll Be No Dessert For You! - 09/10/08 08:02 AM

OK, here I go again!
Yes, I'm getting older!
No, I can't fight it...although I try every day! I go mountain biking as often as I can and now I'm eating healthier than ever before.
So, every weekend, I find myself heading over to the Farmer's Market in Raleigh to get my week's supply of fresh fruit and vegetables.
The Raleigh Farmers Market boasts over 300 different items for sale and has some of the best locally grown produce you can get. With prices well below supermarket levels and freshness that no grocer can match, the Raleigh Farmer's Market should … (6 comments)

cary: The Importance of Curb Appeal - 09/10/08 07:23 AM
In today's market, nothing can turn a buyer away quicker than poor curb appeal.
Buyer's are picky to begin with, and they have the right to be. They're about to make the biggest purchase of their lives. And, with all the inventory available to them these days, they can afford to be choosy.
Below is a home, that, after the sellers just spruced up the curb appeal a little, made all the difference in the world!

cary: Fannie Freddie Bailout - 09/09/08 07:09 AM

The federal government has stepped in and bailed out mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae; a move that can help bolster the U.S. housing market.
As Realtors, that's the best news we've had in a long time as we struggle through this market downslide.
As taxpayers, that's another story. But given the alternative of letting Freddie and Fannie continue to struggle AND the housing market along with them, this is good news.
Interest rates will surely go down some as more money will be freed up for lenders to make loans.
We'll just have to wait and see … (8 comments)

cary: Raleigh's home prices stay strong - 08/27/08 05:06 AM
The following article appeared in the Triangle Business Journal recently: Raleigh's home prices stay strong Triangle Business Journal

Home prices grew by 4.8 percent in the Raleigh area between the second quarter of 2007 and the second quarter of this year, new federal data say.
The figures, from the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, tend to overstate the actual growth in home prices across the country. But they are useful on a comparative level, and by that measure, they place the Raleigh-Cary region at No. 13 among the nearly 300 areas tracked in terms of home price appreciation.

cary: Will the GPhone Revolutionize the Cell Phone Industry? - 08/22/08 08:36 AM
OK, this is very cool but, at the same time, as some people have suggested, kind of scary.
I'm talking about Google's soon to be released Android open free mobile platform.
I'm not buying in to the whole big brother thing about Google. Personally, I think they're doing a great job. Gmail is arguably the best web based email program available today. Google Documents rivals Microsoft Office's anyday, and their search engine is so good, the term "Googling" made it as an entry in the dictionary.
Android is coming very soon. It's going to revolutionize the cell phone industry. Rumor has … (5 comments)

cary: Donald Trump Speaks About the Housing Market - 08/12/08 03:01 PM

This morning on Good Morning America, a show I never watch, but just happened to come across while channel surfing, Donald Trump spoke out on the current state of the housing market.
Without getting into personalities, or whether or not you like him, when "The Donald" speaks about Real Estate, he probably has something relevant to say.
In this particular interview Mr. Trump spent much time letting the public know that NOW is the time to make a home purchase.
"If you want to buy a house there's probably never been a better time," the real estate mogul said.  "It's … (35 comments)

Sick and tired of spending all your retirement money at the gas pump?
Yeah, me too!
Well, if nothing else, it's spurred a bunch of creativity on the internet.
Lots of people have created political cartoons, Photoshopped their frustrations and created videos to share their discontent.
This video is pretty hysterical.

cary: I'm Musically Screwed! - 07/18/08 01:40 AM
OK, let's get this right out in the open before the ranting begins...I love my partner Linda. She's not only my "Real Estate wife" as many have referred to us as, but she's one of my closest friends too. We have a great time working together, hanging socially, and just plain goofing off. We always joke that we're only married through Real Estate. But thankfully we go home at the end of the day to our respective homes. She goes home to her hubby of something like 100 years and me to my house plants and empty fridge.
Linda is one … (22 comments)

cary: Happy 4th of July! - 07/03/08 12:52 AM

Baseball       Hot Dogs      Apple Pie
These words, when grouped together, can only be describing one thing:
The Good Old United States of America!
This 4th of July let's all take a moment to reflect on all the things that are great about our country. Freedom, liberty and the opportunity to make our dreams come true. Sure we have our problems. The war in Iraq, a lagging economy, the housing slow down and gas prices that are staggering.   But, like we always do, we'll get past these issues and be stronger and more united than we ever … (4 comments)

cary: Obama McCain or..........Craig? - 07/01/08 03:15 AM
So you're still undecided as to who to vote for in the upcoming presidential elections.
You're choices have been narrowed for you!
You can vote Democrat.
Barcak Obama seems like a nice guy! His message "Change We Can Believe In" is very plausible.
You can vote Republican.
John McCain and his "Straight Talk Express" will most likely be rolling through your town soon!
Of course you can go the Green Party route, or perhaps Libertarian. There's even a Communist choice if that's what floats your boat!
Or........you can vote for me!
That's right! Me! Craig Rutman! I feel strongly both ways … (6 comments)
