craig rutman: Hurricane Gustav and Your Friends on Active Rain - 09/02/08 04:03 AM

Hi fellow Rainers,
I'm writing this blog for the simple reason that I felt the need to!
As we're all aware, hurricane Gustav just rolled through the New Orleans area of Louisiana.
We're all assembled here on Active Rain for numerous reasons. Whether it's to promote ourselves, get ideas on how to be a better Realtor or just to share a joke with our commarades, one thing is for sure: WE ARE ALL COLLEAGUES in this together.
So, with that being said, I looked on Active Rain for members in the New Orleans region. I felt compelled to just send … (0 comments)

craig rutman: Raleigh's home prices stay strong - 08/27/08 05:06 AM
The following article appeared in the Triangle Business Journal recently: Raleigh's home prices stay strong Triangle Business Journal

Home prices grew by 4.8 percent in the Raleigh area between the second quarter of 2007 and the second quarter of this year, new federal data say.
The figures, from the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, tend to overstate the actual growth in home prices across the country. But they are useful on a comparative level, and by that measure, they place the Raleigh-Cary region at No. 13 among the nearly 300 areas tracked in terms of home price appreciation.

craig rutman: Will the GPhone Revolutionize the Cell Phone Industry? - 08/22/08 08:36 AM
OK, this is very cool but, at the same time, as some people have suggested, kind of scary.
I'm talking about Google's soon to be released Android open free mobile platform.
I'm not buying in to the whole big brother thing about Google. Personally, I think they're doing a great job. Gmail is arguably the best web based email program available today. Google Documents rivals Microsoft Office's anyday, and their search engine is so good, the term "Googling" made it as an entry in the dictionary.
Android is coming very soon. It's going to revolutionize the cell phone industry. Rumor has … (5 comments)

craig rutman: Donald Trump Speaks About the Housing Market - 08/12/08 03:01 PM

This morning on Good Morning America, a show I never watch, but just happened to come across while channel surfing, Donald Trump spoke out on the current state of the housing market.
Without getting into personalities, or whether or not you like him, when "The Donald" speaks about Real Estate, he probably has something relevant to say.
In this particular interview Mr. Trump spent much time letting the public know that NOW is the time to make a home purchase.
"If you want to buy a house there's probably never been a better time," the real estate mogul said.  "It's … (35 comments)

The following article, written by Mike Lupica, appeared in the New York's Daily News on August 7th, 2008. As a former NY'er who moved to the Raleigh area some time ago, I still follow my beloved Jets.
As "Farve" as I'm concerned, this is a good move for both the Jets and for Farve.

craig rutman: Nozzle Rage (Or How I Hate the Price of Gas ) - 07/23/08 06:15 AM
Sick and tired of spending all your retirement money at the gas pump?
Yeah, me too!
Well, if nothing else, it's spurred a bunch of creativity on the internet.
Lots of people have created political cartoons, Photoshopped their frustrations and created videos to share their discontent.
This video is pretty hysterical.

craig rutman: The Thrill Is (NOT!) Gone... - 05/15/08 06:28 AM
Taking a break from Real Estate...... (Hey, we've got to live too!)
The undisputed King of the Blues, B. B. King, played in town the other night and we were there!
In a little theater, we fittingly enough had tickets for row "BB".
At 82 years old, B. B. might have lost a little of his onstage swagger. But none of his trademark string bending, nor any of his vocal range was among the missing. This guy's still got it!

If you've ever seen B. B. live in concert, then you know the deal. If not, here it is.........

craig rutman: Bill Clinton Visits Apex, NC - 05/02/08 04:34 AM
Bill Clinton Visits Apex, NC

On Wednesday April 30th, former President Bill Clinton came to visit "The Peak of Good Living" town of Apex.
No matter what your political bent is, when someone of this magnitude comes to visit our town, I felt I should be a part of this special event.
So, I decided to get up and go see the crowds, listen to him speak and, if nothing else, say I was part of a historic event in Apex, NC.
Sure I could have attended the chamber of commerce meeting in Holly Springs scheduled for … (6 comments)
