wake county: (Mostly) Wordless Wednesday - Forget Waldo! Where's Craig?!!! - 07/15/09 08:39 AM
Sometimes we all need a little breather from Real Estate. And when I need one, I like to spend my time at a concert. Well, recently, I took a trip to see legends Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood in concert. During that weekend, I shot this photograph. Can you guess where it is?!!!

By the way, the concert was unbelievable! Eric Clapton is arguably the greatest guitarist alive today, and his long time friend, Steve Winwood is so talented, it's scary that one person can possess that much talent. As many of you already know, (and for those of you … (22 comments)

wake county: Another Useless Factoid That's Clogging My Brain!!! - 07/14/09 07:59 AM

Do you ever wonder why you remember some of the strangest of things?
You see, do, or hear something that jogs your memory, and out comes that useless factoid that's been clogging your brain forever!
Well, don't ask me why, but the badge that Sergeant Joe Friday wore on the show Dragnet was number 714, and every July 14th, my brain, which somehow has stored this bit of useless information for over 30 years now, pays homage to those LAPD TV heroes from the '70's.
So, my dear readers, enjoy July 14th. It only comes once a year!

wake county: Another Award For Apex, North Carolina? This is Getting Ridiculous!!! - 07/10/09 02:41 AM

In 2007, CNN/Money magazine voted Apex, North Carolina 14th on its list of the nation's top 100 small towns to live in.
Well now, in 2009, Forbes Magazine has named Apex #3 as one of (drum roll please...!!!)
"America's Best Places to Move"
Award winning schools, medical facilities and our great weather are just a few of the factors that got us to #3.
But we're not done yet! With only two spots to go, we won't be resting until we've reached #1...And then we can truly live up to our motto.....
Apex North Carolina "The Peak … (15 comments)

Laptops. Cell phones. PDA's. Email. The technology we sometimes take for granted is advancing so fast it's mind boggling.
But just a few short years ago things were a little different.....

wake county: Working in the Real Estate Industry - Love it or Hate it? - 06/30/09 04:19 AM
Although it can be quite rewarding, working in the Real Estate industry is, if nothing else, a challenging way to make a living. It has its ups and downs, twists and turns and its different every day. I've read a number of blogs along the way, and came up with this poll based on what appears to be some of the most frequent reasons that we do what we do. Take a moment to let the world know how you feel about working in the Real Estate industry. And, don't forget to check back from time to time to see the … (22 comments)

wake county: Happy Father's Day! - 06/20/09 02:27 PM

Every year on the third Sunday in June, folks from all over our great country, and in many parts of the world, celebrate Father's Day.
But did you know that it wasn't until 1972 that Father's Day was declared a national holiday?
And did you know that the rose is the official flower of Father's Day? Red for fathers who are still with us and white for those who have passed away.

The History of Father's Day
As Father's, we've received everything from the infamous tie, the painted macaroni on a plate, and the #1 Dad t-shirt. But, the … (28 comments)

wake county: Cary North Carolina A Brief History and Why You Should Move Here! - 06/12/09 01:31 AM

Cary, North Carolina, home of the nation’s first ever Planned Unit Development (PUD), was founded in 1750 and originally named Bradford’s Ordinary.
In 1854, Allison Francis "Frank" Page bought 300 acres of farmland and renamed his little purchase Cary, after Samuel Fenton Cary, a former Ohio congressman whom he admired.  Page planned the first streets in Cary and he built a sawmill, a general store and a post office. Cary was incorporated in 1879 and Page became the town’s first Postmaster and eventually its first Mayor.
Located in Wake County, just minutes from downtown Raleigh, Cary was the fastest growing … (4 comments)

wake county: Raleigh North Carolina A Brief History and Why You Should Move Here!!! - 06/12/09 01:31 AM

The city of Raleigh, founded in 1587 by Sir Walter Raleigh, and known as the “City of Oaks” for its abundance of oak trees, is the is one of the most populous cities in all of North Carolina. With just over one million residents, it ranks second only to Charlotte.
Raleigh is the capitol of North Carolina and is one of the three cities that make up the “Triangle” (Durham and Chapel Hill are the other cities) metro region. The “Triangle” nickname originated when the Research Triangle Park was created in 1959. RTP, as it is commonly known, … (3 comments)

wake county: Wordless Wednesday On Thursday (Hey, I Was Busy!!!) - 04/02/09 12:32 AM
OK folks, from time to time, as I continue my quest to visit every web site ever created, I come across something that, in my opinion, is just too good (or strange) to keep to myself. This, my friends, is just one of those things.

The above drawing is entitled "Accordian Man" from artist Shawn Feeney's "Musical Anatomy" collection of works. You can see more of Shawn's work by clicking on "Accordian Man".
See Shawn in action as he creates "Mr. Tambourine Man" right before your very eyes!

wake county: What Happened to Me Last Night? - 04/01/09 05:56 AM
OK my dear readers, every now and then something profound happens in our lives that changes everything we've ever come to know and love.
Well last night, that happened to me. It came in the form of a dream as I was sleeping. Now I typically don't sleep very well and dreams are just something I've heard of or read about in books.

But last night my dreams were pretty vivid.
This wasn't one of those dreams about puppies and kittens, butterflies and rainbows.

No folks, that would have been just way too easy! I would have welcomed one … (39 comments)

wake county: Say It With Pictures MeMe...Because You Asked For It!!! - 03/20/09 06:08 AM

I've been tagged!
OK, yet another MeMe is clogging the ActiveRain web site servers.
This one is called "Say It With Pictures MeMe"
While I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of the MeMe craze, this one is kind of fun. It's quite simple. All you have to do is fill in the "answer" to the 10 questions in picture form. It's also a lot easier than the last few MeMe's I was tagged for:
Seven Things About Me You Didn't Know (Or Were Afraid To Ask!) and
Yes Timmy, There is a Santa Claus...and a Christmas MeMe Too! I … (26 comments)

wake county: Take a Deep Breath & Calm Down...The Cause of Your Stress Is Not What You Think! - 03/12/09 07:55 AM

OK, you're freaking out.
Your friends are seriously concerned about you.
I know because they all call me and tell me it's time I step in and help you.
Could it be that the stock market is as erratic as some of the political rhetoric out there?
Could it be that your 401K just plummeted 40%?
Could it be that the price of gas and food has skyrocketed lately?
Or could it be because your kid's friends look like these guys?

No! These are just the reasons your upset right now. The reason you're all stressed out … (28 comments)

wake county: 100,000 Points! And To Celebrate, I Bring To You...The Best of...Uh...Well....The Best of ME!!! - 03/05/09 04:53 AM

OK my dear readers, I've finally achieved that glorious milestone here on ActiveRain...100,000 points!
I could go off and give one of those "I'd like to thank the Academy..." speeches here. But, truth be told, I'd like to thank all of you, my adoring fans(!!!) for helping me make it this far. Rather than name and thank you individually (you know who you are anyway), I've decided to hire this guy to walk around your town instead.

In honor of ME, and/ or for those of you who don't know ME, here are some blogs I've written over the … (50 comments)

wake county: Wordless Wednesday - What the Cluck?!!! - 03/04/09 01:38 AM

OK folks, here is a featherless chicken for you to "feast" your eyes upon! These chickens were genetically engineered in the Middle East to have their feathers removed because it was too hot in the summers. However, the featherless chickens started to get sunburn and had to be protected. Since using butter was not an option to protect them, the scientists who "master-minded" this whole plan decided to scrap the whole idea, leave the chickens as they were and install AC units in their coops instead!
