wake county: Music for an Active-Rain(y) Day - 09/17/08 06:54 AM

OK, it's pouring outside. My clients are not returning my calls today, I don't have any appointments scheduled and gas is over $4.00 a gallon. So I've decided to just take a mental health day!For me, a mental health day means I'm still working on my Real Estate things. I'm just not getting all dressed up, putting on the name tag or even shaving!  No, it's not a pretty sight. I can assure you of that! But we all need a mental health day every now and then to maintain our sanity; or what's left of it.But, it also means, that … (14 comments)

wake county: The Importance of Curb Appeal - 09/10/08 07:23 AM
In today's market, nothing can turn a buyer away quicker than poor curb appeal.

Below is a home, that, after the sellers just spruced up the curb appeal a little, made all the difference in the world!

wake county: Fannie Freddie Bailout - 09/09/08 07:09 AM

The federal government has stepped in and bailed out mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae; a move that can help bolster the U.S. housing market.
As Realtors, that's the best news we've had in a long time as we struggle through this market downslide.
As taxpayers, that's another story. But given the alternative of letting Freddie and Fannie continue to struggle AND the housing market along with them, this is good news.
Interest rates will surely go down some as more money will be freed up for lenders to make loans.
We'll just have to wait and see … (8 comments)

wake county: Raleigh's home prices stay strong - 08/27/08 05:06 AM
The following article appeared in the Triangle Business Journal recently: Raleigh's home prices stay strong Triangle Business Journal

Home prices grew by 4.8 percent in the Raleigh area between the second quarter of 2007 and the second quarter of this year, new federal data say.
The figures, from the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, tend to overstate the actual growth in home prices across the country. But they are useful on a comparative level, and by that measure, they place the Raleigh-Cary region at No. 13 among the nearly 300 areas tracked in terms of home price appreciation.

wake county: I'm Musically Screwed! - 07/18/08 01:40 AM
OK, let's get this right out in the open before the ranting begins...I love my partner Linda. She's not only my "Real Estate wife" as many have referred to us as, but she's one of my closest friends too. We have a great time working together, hanging socially, and just plain goofing off. We always joke that we're only married through Real Estate. But thankfully we go home at the end of the day to our respective homes. She goes home to her hubby of something like 100 years and me to my house plants and empty fridge.

wake county: Happy 4th of July! - 07/03/08 12:52 AM

Baseball       Hot Dogs      Apple Pie
These words, when grouped together, can only be describing one thing:
The Good Old United States of America!
This 4th of July let's all take a moment to reflect on all the things that are great about our country. Freedom, liberty and the opportunity to make our dreams come true. Sure we have our problems. The compact flourescent lightbulb (CFL) is becoming more and more popular in replacing incandescent bulbs as they burn out.
But there … (0 comments)

wake county: A Little Sick...A Lot of Funny!...But There's a Moral to Every Story! - 06/11/08 12:54 AM
I don't know where this came from. But, in my endless effort to view every web site on the internet, I came across this video.
It reminded me of a recent home inspection report where the inspector had called out a ripple in the carpet a "tripping hazard". OUCH!
Anyway, the moral of the story is "Smoking Kills"!
Watch and you'll understand!
Enjoy!
