craig witt: Just Do It - 05/13/11 04:26 AM
Sometimes you just need to keep on keepin’ on. I have found many Realtors stop doing what made them successful in the first place. I heard one of our trainers once explain it this way “well I tried that and it worked so I stopped”. Take basic Real Estate for example...prospecting. If under all is land then behind all successful Realtors is prospecting. This notion that once my business gets up and running all I need to do is service my referrals works for the minority, not the majority.

craig witt: Personality = Success - 03/18/11 04:34 AM
Not everyone has that “social butterfly” personality. Real Estate agents are expected however to possess some special over-the-top customer service personality that woos customers and closes deals by the mere smile on their face. The secret to success in Real Estate is in large part due to your personality. If the old adage that people buy people stands true, then how you communicate thru your behavior and temperament can make or break your career.

The ability to connect with your customer has everything to do with you both caring about each other. It is the Real Estate agents job to … (1 comments)

craig witt: The Next (lead) Generation - 02/18/11 04:09 AM
We are in an ever-changing industry right now, which you can actually experience on a daily basis. Selling Real Estate will never be the way it used to be, and savvy agents know this and are adapting accordingly. If you are one of those agents that think you can continue doing business the "old fashion way", you are in for a surprise. Granted, reputation and repeat business will continue but technology is overtaking the way deals are done.

craig witt: 2011 is a year of Participation and Contribution - 01/10/11 09:55 AM

Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits…to that I say…resist! Keep the healthy habits and drop the unhealthy ones. We are off and running in 2011 and it is going to be a great year. The economy is recovering, attitudes are improving and we aren’t getting any younger. The time is now to take full advantage in improving your family, your career and yourself. Look hard at the things that didn’t work out so well and fix them, change is good and change is healthy. We live in the best country in … (1 comments)

craig witt: A Decade Ends...A Decade Begins - 12/16/10 06:16 AM
Can you believe another 10 years has come and gone? The good news is…a decade is ending. The really good news is…a decade is beginning! Not only a whole new year is upon us, but a chance to make a new 10-year plan. Our lives are strung together in little pieces of a larger plan, often 5-year, 10-year or even more long range planning for where we want to be when we “grow up”. The little pieces are important, like fuel stops along the road of life on the way to our final resting place. However, the end game is most … (2 comments)

craig witt: Takeoffs are optional, landings are mandatory - 08/16/10 01:26 AM
I was recently going through my Bi-Annual Flight Review as required by the FAA to keep my pilot license current. When I learned to fly in 1999, our plane options were limited. Actually, we had a variety of old Cessna 152’s, 172’s and 182’s but they were in such poor condition they were typically in maintenance so it made it difficult to fly. Fortunately I learned a lot about flying with minimal equipment and emergency landings!

craig witt: Realtor Time... - 07/21/10 01:28 AM

Wise man once said “if you’re not 10 minutes early, you’re late!” That wise man was a boss of mine long ago.  I have to admit this is one of my biggest pet peeves, and likely yours as well. In an industry where we often set our own schedule and our own appointments, how could it possibly be that Realtors continue to run behind schedule? Now I know what you are thinking…”not me, I’m never late, I don’t fit into that category”. Uh huh. Oh, and I won’t single our industry out, this is widespread I am certain and no-one is … (7 comments)

craig witt: An Open Mind Can Change Your Life - 01/05/10 02:00 AM
Certainly you have heard the line "a mind is like a parachute, it works best when open". I am more for facts than quirky lines but I can tell you more people have found success by having an open mind than those that have not. Is it generational? Is it blue collar vs. white collar? Is it based on making a conscious decision to for once in your life try something new? Whatever it is, it works. I have always been an open-minded person willing to dip my toe in the pool of risk and I have experienced both success and … (2 comments)

craig witt: Prospecting is Simple - 07/24/09 03:37 AM

The Real Estate business is, as George W. Bush once referred to something, “Not Rocket Surgery”. Would you agree we make it seem more difficult than it is? Then, when things are not going as planned, the blame game begins. Well, it must be the weather, the economy, the ozone layer, those darn banks….blah, blah, blah. Now, granted, there are many factors that can come between  everyday life, deals and goals that cause us grief, but often times there is a solution if we keep a cool head and focus.

craig witt: I Hate Franchises! - 06/19/09 03:24 AM
As I travel around the State of Michigan, I am still amazed at the number of independent Real Estate offices that are swimming in debt and waiting for that next deal to close. If you follow the Michigan economy at all, a large number of Real Estate transactions are either Short Sale or Bank Owned. For a Realtor, this translates into additional work, intense negotiating, worrisome customers, and often reduced commissions. Longer time between paydays with reduced commissions can create enormous economic hardship for the Realtor as well as the Brokerage.
The good news? There is a solution and it may … (0 comments)

craig witt: I’m Still In Shock Over The Exit Realty Concept! - 04/28/09 03:16 AM

Another post from another top agent with EXIT Realty, published with permission from the author, Vince Arcuri at www.headofrealestate.com
I came to Exit for the single level residuals and the UNLIMITED potential they offer.  What I am in shock over is the constant offerings of first quality training available via live video and by the marketing tools offered to their agents and brokers to help them...... help US get property sold and closed.  The SUPPORT that is offered is just too good to believe if I were not experiencing it myself.  I had TWO closings just today that were a … (1 comments)
