Prairie Chicken Re-route and Video
A few days ago a friend posted this video of Prairie Chickens doing their mating dance on Facebook and it reminded me of a story that I had shared online a few years ago.
So tonight I will reshare the story and the video.
My wife Sally is writing a blog tonight on the Central Wisconsin Prairie Chicken festival, which you should go over and read, after reading and commenting on my little blog.

Three Junior Foresters, Building Homes for the Birds, Forestry Demonstration day at Woodland Management Service.
This photo takes us back to 1998 on a fantastic summer day when Woodland Management Service hosted a Field Day for the Chippewa Valley chapter of the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association at our office and tree farm near Cadott Wisconsin.
It was a great day that took weeks for my staff, my family and myself to prepare for with miles of freshly mowed trails leading to all of our demonstration sites and a few research projects.

Building a Leopold Bench
To go with the Leopold theme of my past two posts, I am going to include one more post Relating to Aldo Leopold, that of the Leopold Bench.
I have mentioned in other posts in the past the sweet tranquility of having a few benches placed throughout your forest, especially on a quiet place along the trail.
When reading Leopold’s book, A Sand County Almanac, it is easy to imagine him sitting on one of these benches early in the morning contemplating the workings of the world and our place in it.

Aldo Leopold: Pioneer in Forestry and Wildlife Ecology
A few minutes ago I shared a blog post on Sauk County Wisconsin, a place that one of our nations pioneer Foresters and Wildlife Ecologists went to commune with nature during his final years as a professor at the University of Wisconsin.
Realizing that many outside of the Natural Resource professions may have never heard of this man I thought that it my be good to share a few words on him as well as a video.
