Upper Michigan is one of my favorite places with cool summers, snow filled winters and some of the best Sugar Maple in the world. With over 9 million acres of forestland, and not that many people, this place is a real treasure.

Do your Forest and the World a Favor, Burn More Firewood! In the comments for my blog post yesterday our friend Bill Feela mentioned that he would be celebrating International Day of the Forests by going out to the woods this weekend and cutting firewood. What are you doing to Celebrate International Day of Forests next week? We all enjoy the benefits of a country with healthy forests, clean air, clean water, wildlife, recreation, wood, paper, and aesthetics. Over a third of the world is forested and those areas that are not suffer from a micro-climate cycle that is not pleasant or productive. So lets take a little time this next week to celebrate the many benefits that we enjoy in a country that has some of the healthiest forests in the world.
