The Pioneers, Ashland Wisconsin Mural Series
Pondering this favorite in the Ashland Mural Series brings along many thoughts of these early adventurers.
Explorers, Hunters, Trappers, Fishermen, Loggers, Miners, and so many more people who got this area going before it was known as Ashland.
Why did they come here, was it for adventure, a new life away from something else, a new opportunity?
Did they find what they were looking for?
Regardless of the answers to these questions, the fact remains, this town would not be what it is today without these hardy folks.

Being a student of history, I do notice a few missing faces … (2 comments)

Loading the Big Ships with Ore and Logs, an Ashland Mural
Anyone who has spent much time along the shores of Lake Superior in Wisconsin, Minnesota or Michigan as had the opportunity to marvel at the Gigantic ships that travel this deep and mighty waterway.
It’s clear that these great lakes ships are meant for work and they travel from the Midwest to places beyond all day and night hauling raw materials away and bringing back goods from other parts or our country as well as from across the world.
What is less clear is how do they get all of our goods … (3 comments)

Stevens Point Mural Series - Most Influential Citizens

Stevens Point's Ten Most Influential Citizens

Kelly Meredith painted the mural titled, "Stevens Point's Ten Most Influential Citizens" on the corner of Clark and

Strongs Ave. in 2008 to celebrate the City of Stevens Point's Sesquicentennial.
The individuals in this mural were voted the most influential because of their contributions to the city and people of Stevens Point.
The influence of these important people remains today. Their names can be found on street signs, buildings, and parks throughout Stevens Point.

Riding the Logs Down Wisconsins First Highway, "The Riverman of the Wisconsin River" Mural
Being a great fan of local art, I often enjoy riding my bike through the downtown area of Stevenst Point where many small and large murals are painted depicting our history.
This gem is located on the corner of Water and Clark Streets,  in Downtown Stevens Point.
The Riverman Mural is a tribute to Stevens Point's strong logging heritage.
Logging was one of the first large industries to build our state and today it still is, though we no longer use river … (8 comments)

Stevens Point Mural Series - McDonald title

I always enjoy going by this Mural, it is not one of the official city sponsored murals and it has a certain historical family business aire to it that is always enjoyable.
One bonus to this mural is that the artist painted a scene that could have been of this business as it was in the 1800's.

Stevens Point Mural Series - Kozy Kitchen Home Cooking
This mural is also not one of the city sponsored murals, but it still is very interesting  with a good times type flaire to it.

The longest running restaurant in Stevens Point, at the corner of Third and Clark streets, is called “Painting the Town”. Over the years, thousands of "locals" and visitors enjoyed a fine home cooked meal at the Cozy.
This mural was painted by local artist Greg Luedtke.
Notice the cute girl in this picture, thats my loving wife Sally out for an early morning bike … (9 comments)
