UWSP Pointers Spud Bowl, 2017
The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point has been holding the Spud Bowl for 31 years. It is their way of celebrating and raising awareness for the rich agriculture industry of our area. Over 50 local businesses help to support this program.
Wisconsin is one of the nation’s lead producers in potatoes, green beans, sweet corn and several other vegetables. We contribute $6.4 billion through these crops and the processing of them. This includes nearly 35,000 jobs.
This year the celebration begins on Saturday September 23, with the 5K walk/run which begins at 2:00 at Goerke Track and ends … (1 comments)

The BoDeans; A Big Hit at Stevens Point Riverfront Celebration!
It was a great night in Stevens Point last night as I took a few hours off and took my favorite girl for a date to the BoDeans Concert at the Steven Point Riverfront Rendezvous.
The park was packed as several thousand people showed up for the Bodeans and the other performers who were playing on the other 2 stages.
The BoDeans were great, the crowd was a bit much, and my date was spectacular as she always is.

Everyone seems to enjoy a great time, and a great place, at a great price.
Come join SentryWorld as they kick off their second season of PJ’s Live, a summer concert series, with Spicy Tie Band on June 1, 2016.
Concerts will be held every Wednesday throughout the summer.

Gear up for the Old Skoool Kruizers, who for the eighth summer will be hosting KooolAid Summer Car Kruize to benefit the Portage County Humane Society and Operation Bootstrap.
These events which begin on Wednesday June 1 and run through September 21 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm

The Friends of Schmeeckle Reserve will be hosting their Spring Candlelight Hike Festival on Friday May 6th.
This is an event that is held every fall and spring where you can enjoy torch lit hiking trails, crafts, discovery stations, and campfire programs.
This year’s program will be entitled "Underwater Schmeeckle: Life Below the Water's Surface" and will be fun for people of all ages.

Many may think that it is a little early to be thinking about butterflies, after all we still have snow on the ground in much of Wisconsin.
But as any biologist will tell you, the time to plan for a healthy population of something like this is long before we see them out and about.
This is the time to think about what we will need to plant in our yard in order to feed the larvae of these butterflies as well as the plants that will attract the adult butterflies.

I received this letter a while back, along with the other business owners in our town, from a very special person at our local school and thought that I would pass it on for others to help out too.
Contributing to education is never a bad idea, well educated people become successful citizens later, and the cycle keeps growing.
This is why I never balk at the huge amount of property taxes that I pay each year that goes to several school districts that my children have never even gone to.
