9am to Noon at the Wylie First Baptist Church located at 100 North 1st Street. 
 Plano Cycling and Fitness will conduct bicycle safety inspections and Wylie Officers will answer questions and educate riders on bicycle safety. 
 An obstacle course will be set up for tips on navigation and safety.   Talking about safety...              helmets will be available while supplies last.

The Back to School Fair is an annual event that gives away backpacks filled with school supplies to students that are facing economic hardships.  Many families are still struggling to put food on the table much less the added burden of purchasing school supplies for the upcoming school year. 
With the help of local churches and organizations such as FBC, the Lions Club, Wylie Women's League, the Mason's, WUMC, and more, the goal is to fill 1,000 backpacks this year.

Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, Wylie ISD will offer a quality extended day program for students in grades kindergarten through the fourth grade at all elementary campuses.  The program is designed to focus on the academic, enrichment and recreational needs of the children.
The program will follow the WISD calendar, and the hours of operation are from after school until 6:30 p.m. each weekday.  Parents can select a three-day or full five-day program per child.  AlphaBest, Inc. will administer the extended day program which will be taught by certified teachers and educational assistants.

Wonderful TAKS preliminary news . . . Congratulations to WISD students, teachers, staff, trustees, and parents.

 
It is celebration time in the Wylie Independent School District. Our preliminary TAKS data indicate all of the campuses in WISD will be Recognized or Exemplary. And, for the first time in the history of WISD, our test scores are at the Exemplary level.

The other day I had to stop in at Tractor Supply in Wylie for some great yard spray called "Pest Away".  It's wonderful at keeping the cats out of my flowerbeds.
Anyways, I noticed the parking lot was full of people and their pets.  Veterinary Medical Care is offering basic pet vaccinations and heartworm test for cheap.  What a great service!  Tractor supply hpas heartworm preventatives and flea/tick control, so it's a one stop shop!
