free events: Simpsonville host 50th year of South Greenville Fair

The South Greenville Fair is turning 50 this year and is going to be held at the Simpsonville City Park. This is the only fair in the Upstate of South Carolina that shows goats, livestock and horses. South Greenville Fair is a nonprofit tax-exempt, all volunteer organization. Local Future Farmers of American and 4-H's will be participating. This event will educate and inspire community celebration of the science and technology of plant and animal production. On August 5th Simpsonville, Fountain Inn and Mauldin are planning activities for National Night Out. Each of the city's police departments are planning to be involved to increase communication with people in the community. They will focus on crime prevention and strengthening police-community relations. Fountain Inn will shut down Main Street in the downtown area to hold a block party from 6-9 pm. There will be hot dogs, children's games, DJ's, DUI simulation ride and again the police department will be out to talk with the community. The Upstate Shakespeare Festival is presenting a contemporary incarnation of Moliere's The Miser. And IT"S FREE!! The main character is a stingy French scrooge name Monsieur Harpagon, and will be played by a woman acting as a man. Should be pretty fun to watch. Anyway this French man is trying to marry off his children for money instead of love. They play is about the conspiring and conniving to get this done. When? July 10-13, 17-20, 24-27 July 31 - Aug 3. I hope that most people out there are as lucky as the people who live here in the great town of Simpsonville, SC. I look around all the time and find great things to do here in Simpsonville. But as most cities, our great city works hard to continue offering activities for the residents. As if we didn't have the best time at Freedom Weekend Aloft. I mean who would want to live in a place where you can hear great concerts and see hot air balloons from your front yard.
