Expanded Tax Credit is Good News for First Time and Repeat Home Buyers Alike!
Home sellers and potential buyers nationwide welcomed the recent news that Congress had decided to extend and greatly expand the Home Buyer's tax credit in an attempt to further stimulate the economy. Not only does the new legislation extend the existing first time buyer's credit until mid-next year, but it also creates a tax credit for qualified repeat buyers. A letter from Susan -
We had such a terrific response to our offer to draw up estate planning documents for $125 per person (for you couples who have been married awhile, you are still two people!) that we are sending the offer again!  So many people told us that having a will had been on their "to do" … (2 comments)

Restaurant Savings

My mom used to say, "The food always tastes better when someone else is cooking it." Maybe that's why I love my mom's cooking so much.

I'm guessing that's also why so many of us like to eat out. Between work and family obligations, deciding what to make for dinner seems more like a chore some days. It is the reason we decided to tackle tonight's subject of ways to save money and still eat out.
Great way to save $$$ on Dining Out in Austin

southwest austin real estate: Hot Tips for Cool Closings - 08/20/09 05:16 PM
I recently asked one of my favorite title representitives for some good advice for a smooth closing.  She said:
"As notaries we are required by law to see a valid photo ID for anyone whose signature we acknowledge.  If this cannot be provided we are unable to notarize the documents therefore they cannot be recorded.  All this to say - it is imperative that sellers and buyers bring proper identification with them to the closing.  Normally it's in the form of a current Driver's License but a Passport or other official photo ID can also be used."
Just a reminder to … (3 comments)

southwest austin real estate: Circle C/ Legend Oaks Areas are Smoking Hot - 08/09/09 09:07 AM
Weather in Austin has been over 100 degrees lately.  Real Estate in Southwest Austin is also smoking hot.  The inventory is lower than normal because people are buying homes in the Circle C/ Legend Oaks/ Western Oaks corridor.

(Typical home in the area)
There are currently 164 homes for sale, down from the average 225.
There are currently 63 homes under contract.
The average time on the market is 45 days.
Some of the reasons that make this area (zip codes 78749 and 78739) so desirable:
10 to 15 minutes to downtown Austin.
Exemplary rated schools
Close to major employers … (4 comments)
