indianapolis: Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash is Coming . . . An Opportunity to help the Homeless! - 11/08/06 06:35 AM
Many of you may know or have seen the Wheeler Mission in Downtown Indianapolis.  This mission originated in 1893 and has been addressing Indianapolis' poor and needy ever since.  It is a place where the homeless may come to get a warm meal or find shelter for the night.  It also has a food pantry and distributes more than 30 tons of food each year.  While these things are important, their mission also includes helping people change their lives.
One way we as a community can help is to participate in some small way with the 4th Annual Drumstick Dash which will be held … (0 comments)

A small article in the Indianapolis Business Journal states that KB homes is in default on a senior note.  The company is based out of Los Angeles, CA.  In the Indianapolis area we know them also as Dura Builders which build homes as well as operating a components plant near the Indianapolis International Airport.  In the article it says that in September of this year the company disclosed that sales were down due to greater competition from other builders in the area as well as a change in pricing and orders.

indianapolis: Could selling your house be like Dating? - 11/04/06 09:15 AM
Most people know what it's like to go on dates.  If the date sounded like someone you wanted to meet and impress, you'd clean your act up, maybe put one of your better outfits on, get a hair cut or any number of things that made your appearance look better than the norm.  Now think, why did you do this?  Well usually because you wanted that "someone" to get a good first impression of you, right?  You wanted them to finish out the date and hopefully there would be more dates.  To be honest, that's what its like when you go to sell your … (2 comments)

indianapolis: Are you really taking a loss? Pricing a home in today's market. - 10/26/06 09:10 AM
As many of you know, homes are sitting on the market longer.  More people are experiencing their listings expire or being on the market for a year or more.  To combat that, I and other Realtors®. ask for sellers to consider the low end of a suggested listing price or a price reduction.  So often that idea is met with resistance to our suggestion.  I understand the many reasons that it sounds like such an unthnkable request but I'd like to explore some other variables with you.  Please, stay with me on this one.
Now if you do not have to sell your home, this may not … (0 comments)

indianapolis: The Scoop on Pricing a Listing. - 10/24/06 07:21 AM
So many times when I speak to people, whether they are possible clients or people I meet when I'm out and about there's a misconception that a Realtor sets the price of a home when it's listed.
In reality, it goes back to the market and that "supply and demand" rule.  Most everyone knows, when there's a large demand for something and not much product, the prices will raise but when there's a lot of product and a limited demand, the prices will go down.
I'm not writing this to get into a lengthy discussion about the economy or the stock market, … (1 comments)

indianapolis: The "Expired Listing" - 10/14/06 01:21 PM
Not long ago, I contacted a homeowner about their expired listing.  One of the first questions I was asked by them was whether I really wanted to sell this home or just get another listing. . .  I hadn't been asked this question before but it is a valid one.
Most homeowners experience a bunch of calls, if the homeowner isn't flagged on the Do Not Call List or letters from Realtors offering to re-list their property.  Sometimes a Realtor will even show up at the front door.
When I contact people whose homes didn't sell and expired I'm calling to see if my services will help … (1 comments)
