The setting of the starting grid for the Daytona 500 is UNIQUE in NASCAR * the qualifying procedure last Sunday ONLY set the 2 pole positions P1 = #88 Dale Earnhardt Jr and P2 = #24 Jeff Gordon....the OTHER drivers' times set them in the 2 heat races held yesterday * odd positions in 1 race and even positions in 1 race * each race was appros 150 miles * 60 laps at the SUPERSPEEDWAY track.

...YES, Virginia, it's 30 days to the Budweiser Shootout in Daytona * the BEGINNING of the 2011 NASCAR season although the GREAT AMERICAN RACE will be held on the 20th * the Daytona 500 The Shootout, like the All Star Race in Charlotte mid-season, is a NON-points race that is LOADS of fun to watch. Like W/Bush 43, many don't think that Michael Waltrip can walk and chew gum at the same time so they may be surprised to know that "Mikey", tall-drink-of-water brother of JAWS Fox sportscaster Darrell Waltrip, has written a book that will be published in February, 2011 on the 10th anniversary of Dale Earnhardt SR's death at the Daytona 500.

I think this HISTORIC run of Ken Jennings on JEAPORDY was the last time I actually watched the show regularly. His loosing question was * This firm's 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only 4 months a year.
His was response was FedEx and the correct response was H&R Block. Well, he is now scheduled to a JEAPORDY re-match mid-February 14*15*16, with IBM's Super computer WATSON. Some media and tv news shows are reporting that JR was injured in his wreck in the Nationwide race from Daytona on Saturday. JR is fine and he got out and walked around and saw the damage and did media interviews back in the garage. Danica is ONLY scheduled to run 10 to 12 Nationwide races for JR Motorsports and was never cleared by NASCAR to race the Cup race today!!! JRNation will be in full force * they are the ones in RED
Former VP Dick Cheney will appear on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, and it’s a safe bet what he will say the current administration projects weakness to terrorists and puts American lives at risk. Meanwhile, current VP Joe Biden will be on NBC's "Meet the Press" and CBS's "Fact the Nation". In his Meet the Press segement which was taped on Saturday, Biden unloaded on Cheney and accuses him of trying to re-write history. Gonna be some FIREWORKS before the Daytona 500 fireworks at 1P on Fox!!!
However, February is ALSO the time I send out my renewal letters for leases that are expiring this summer. I already know that some residents will not be renewing - their residency at the UVa Med Center is up; they are graduating from Law or Graduate schools; or their JAG course ends - so those properties have been available on my website and I have re-rented 3 properties whose leases I am not renewing * late … (6 comments)

I'm ready * I know where I'll be on Thursday, February 4th at 5P * watching NASCAR practice for the Bud Shootout on the 6th at 8P on FOX * a GREAT Night Race with NO POINTS * just bragging rights. Under the NEW qualification format, the 32nd annual event will include last year's 12 Chase Drivers * Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, Greg Biffle, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards and Brian Vickers. In the small world category, about 10 years ago a friend of ours introduced us to Jim Sterling. Jim's sister is our friend's good friend from KC. Jim came to Virginia and although our friend and Jim did not hit it off, Jim kept us on his Christmas card list. A few years later Jim married Nancy Edwards, mother of NASCAR driver, Carl Edwards, and we started getting cards with Carl in the family photo. The first card actually had a live-size cut-out of him in his firesuit because he was unavailable.
