Wendell Scott remains the only Aftican-American driver to ever win a Cup race and he will be honored this weekend on the anniversaty of his first race. Each car in Sunday's race wil bear a decal with Scott's likeness.
Scott's daughter, Sybil Scott, will be in attendance as will be Jason Romero who was last season's winner of the Wendell Scott Trailblazer Award.

McDonald has been in NASCAR since 1993 when it sponsored one of Junior Johnson's cars; however, it has been affiliated with the Evernham/Gillett/RPM teams since 2005
As of this weeks CUP race in Las Vegas, Mickey D will be on the #1 Chevrolet of Jamie McMurray/Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.

Jeffrey is the son of Kerry Earnhardt, eldest of Dale's 4 children.

A series of candles glow in tribute inside the Dale Earnhardt, Inc. headquarters in Mooresville during the 9th annual Dale Earnhardt Candlelight Tribute. It has been held yearly since the loss of Dale Earnhardt in 2001. The tribute will allow fans to celebrate Earnhardt's life and pay tribute to the seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion. Karin Moss, Executive Director of the Dale Earnhardt Foundation said "we have such an emotional bond with our fans. This is truly the house that Dale built". This was the first time that the tribute was held inside the DEI facility.

Several years ago, I wanted a NASCAR screen saver for my office computer and I could only find lame FREE ones or expensive ones with few photos....so I decided to make my own. My desktop photo at the time was AF1 leaving Daytona the year JR won the 500 that I downloaded from the SI website....I have have some "staple" photos like #3 show car and the 3-fingers in the air at Daytona, the CHASE cup and Victory Junction Gang Camp logo and I take out the last years photos (2009) and I'll add photos from Speed Weeks and the 500.....I … (3 comments)

Some media and tv news shows are reporting that JR was injured in his wreck in the Nationwide race from Daytona on Saturday. JR is fine and he got out and walked around and saw the damage and did media interviews back in the garage.
Danica is ONLY scheduled to run 10 to 12 Nationwide races for JR Motorsports and was never cleared by NASCAR to race the Cup race today!!!

Former VP Dick Cheney will appear on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, and it’s a safe bet what he will say the current administration projects weakness to terrorists and puts American lives at risk.
Meanwhile, current VP Joe Biden will be on NBC's "Meet the Press" and CBS's "Fact the Nation".
In his Meet the Press segement which was taped on Saturday, Biden unloaded on Cheney and accuses him of trying to re-write history. Gonna be some FIREWORKS before the Daytona 500 fireworks at 1P on Fox!!!

Chrissy Wallace, daughter of Mike Wallace and niece of Cup Champion/ESPN announcer Rusty Wallace, will run in the Daytona Nationwide race with her dad in the field, her cousin, Steven Wallace (Rusty's son) AND her uncle, Kenny Wallace. NASCAR records this as the first 4 family members in the same field. Rusty Wallace will be in the ESPN booth.

Yes....there ARE NASCAR races outside of the US....there are Nationwide races on the road courses in Mexico and Canada and there has been a race in Japan.
Better television coverage through cable partners and better logistics to get the cars through customs at the HUGE UPS facility on the Texas/Mexico boarder make these events easier to stage and televise.
