The revered Amelia Island Plantation was purchased out of bankruptcy last year by the group that owns Omni Hotels & Resorts. This breathtaking oceanfront resort has over 1200 acres along 3.5 miles of the Atlantic coastline. With the acquisition, I think most of us in the area anticipated some changes, we just were not sure when Omni would start on the work. This clinic, sponsored on the state level by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission is a fabulous way to get your kids or grandkids involved in fishing here in Florida. At this clinic, on 3/12/11 at Fort Clinch State Park from 9am to 12noon, will help beginner fishers learn the basics of angling, including environmental stewardship, fishing ethics, angling skills, and safety. fernandina beach: Mayport Ferry Resumes Service, Mayport, FL

We here at the beaches love our ferry, as it can save us time and money to get to Amelia Island, and Fernandina Beach. The slowest month for ferry ridership is December, so the local Port Authority decided that was a good time for maintenance and improvements. It's also fun to ride the ferry vs. driving up 9A because of the great water views you get - sometimes, there is nothing like it.
