debbie holmes: We joined the Boise YMCA
- 12/06/19 05:27 AM
I have been feeling stiffer and less mobile this last year. I had been walking in the foothills but alas I lost my ability. There was no reason I should have I just stopped going there. I still can walk forever on the flat. I miss the foothills and my diabetes numbers are getting worse. The doc is talking about injectible medicines. I have found all medicines have some side effects. If I don't watch what I eat and exercise I have problems. Of course I am not alone. I kept thinking I would get back to it but I haven't.

debbie holmes: Great For sale by owner on the Boise Bench
- 12/05/19 06:38 AM
Yesterday I saw a great for sale by owner on the bench near Hawthorne school. I can't give the address because I do not have the listing but I can earn my commission if I bring a buyer. I don't usually advertise these but this one is perfect for one of my many Boise Peeps.
This home is 3 bedrooms one bath single lever at 1040 square feet. This cute comfortable home has an upgraded functional kitchen with nice counter space and storage. There is a 2 car garage with one bay used as a shop. There is gas heat and AC (4 comments)
debbie holmes: Boise Little Theater a fun night out!
- 12/03/19 06:01 AM
We have a subscription to the Boise Little Theater! They are an amateur group of volunteers that do a professional job at putting on good shows. Annie is the current show and is playing now. Hubby and I are planning to go on Thursday. Tickets are quite reasonable at $15 if you call in advance. Each December they have a musical. Even though they are never full, we always run into people that we know. They are always looking for volunteers from actors to ushers. This is just a great way to enjoy an evening in the city of trees. (4 comments)

Today Joshua Holmes is trying to work on his orals for his doctorate. Jesse Holmes is trying to help him a bit. I hover pathetically and really cannot help. Jesse Holmes found this poem that Jonathan Holmes wrote as a child. I Debbie Holmes represent this poem. So for a laugh and a bit of fun at my expense I will share it with my Active rain friends. By the way Jonathan Holmes now has a doctorate in applied math. The Annoying Parent by Jonny Holmes I have an annoying mom, She always screams at me, saying, “GET YOUR (0 comments)
debbie holmes: The quiet before the storm
- 11/27/19 12:24 PM
I woke up early with Thanksgiving preparations in my mind. I went to the store at 7 AM. Then I went to work for a bit. I needed to learn about my new website. I have new pictures of me. I have a land deal where the buyer was trying to get us to agree to a lower price. That is now settled. Original terms. I am now home and it is very quiet. Soon the holiday will start in earnest. The cooking for the family. The adult children showing up. I am looking forward to it. I am going into (2 comments)
debbie holmes: Yesterday, I was not at my best.
- 11/24/19 06:05 AM
It started at 1 AM on Friday. I woke up and looked at my Facebook. Someone had posted inflammatory fake news earlier and I refuted it. I had started a minor flame war. I woke up and got my sources added to my comments. By then I was awake. I stayed awake until 4:30 AM. I only fell asleep by taking advantage of my diabetes and eating lots of carbs to raise my sugar (not an approved way to get sleep). I woke up groggy.
I went to synagogue and before I even entered the door I annoyed 2 of my friends. We are (7 comments)
debbie holmes: This old house
- 11/23/19 08:17 AM
I looked in my customer's eyes and realized he saw something different from what anyone else would see and had priced it accordingly (an FSBO). His father built the house himself with the help of a friend. He and his sisters were born into this home and stayed until they married out. He saw the home he grew up in. He saw the memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas. He saw a living vibrant home. A home he and his sisters valued. There was a second home they owned next door that needed to be scraped.
I felt a bit sad and (2 comments)

I love middle eastern food. I have never met a dish I am unwilling to try. Here in Boise we have lots of Iraqi restaurants! My first one I went to was Ishtar, They have really good food for relatively inexpensive prices. They also have a complete small store and fresh made Pita and flat bread. Babylon market is a store that also has fresh made breads! There is a restaurant called Goodness land (no link because it seems broken) that does not have a store. Recently something new and wonderful opened up! Foodland market. It has a clean market with a (2 comments)
debbie holmes: Roofs and other things
- 11/20/19 06:21 AM
As a Realtor and property manager I have maintenance. This allows me to become familiar with good contractors. I do not know if I hire the best but if I do not like them I do not hire them again. This seems to be a year of roofs. Not a happy topic.
My client found a good roofer who was willing to tackle her older homes roof for a reasonable price. I was impressed with the work and the diligence that he showed when placing the roof. There were all sorts of odd angles and a place where there were 6 layers (0 comments)
debbie holmes: Land 101 - My first land listing
- 11/19/19 06:58 AM
In September a friend of mine asked me to look at her land. She had 2.83 acres of land behind her house. Now I haven't listed land but I am (or at least was (I think there was a time limit on the certification)) in land. I knew basically what needed to be done. So on a beautiful Sunday I drove to Middleton, Idaho, about 30 minutes away and met with my friend and her family. We talked about their needs and the land. They were getting older and didn't want to keep up the land any longer. They also had developed (1 comments)

debbie holmes: The Spirit of Boise Balloon festival!
- 08/29/16 02:43 AM
Every year since 1991 we have had the Spirit of Boise Balloon festival! It is a wonderful event where lots of balloonists from all over the country come and launch balloons from our own Ann Morrison Park.
I arrived in 1991 and I go every year. From when the children were little to now that they are adults. This year the festival starts on August 31 (tether day - so the kids can go up in tethered balloons) through September 4. You just show up at Ann Morrison Park (or any place that has a good view of the park). You can be amongst the (4 comments)

- 08/25/16 09:31 AM
It's that time of year! Time for the Western Idaho Fair. The fair continues until Sunday! It opens at 12 noon every day. Yesterday with a nice cool day ahead I went to the fair with my step mom. There is everything you expect at the fair. There is rides, games, salespeople, animals, exhibits, politicians, community service booths, tractors. Lots of different types of fair food. I bought the Carmel corn. Here are some pictures of the fair!
There are the contests about vegetables, flowers, horses, chickens, etc. Lots of 4 H stuff here. We also have future farmers (0 comments)

Every Saturday we have the Capital City Farmers Market! People come and get food, plants and artwork! We have local artist preform. There is over 150 vendors that occupy four city blocks.
You can get hormone free meats, artisan cheeses, organic vegetables, handmade soaps, interesting jellies. All sorts of cooked food items. At least half the vendors are local artists. It is a great way to buy unique items and support local people.
Come one, come all to the Capital City Farmer's Market. It runs from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM so come spend Saturday morning in downtown Boise.
$15,000 Reduction in Price! This home is in pristine condition and designed to impress as you enter through the front door. The great room flows into the gourmet kitchen and the custom tile work that connects both rooms contrasts beautifully with the granite counters. The double oven & gas cook top give the kitchen an impressive feel. The over sized master suite will pamper you with the comfort of luxury. debbie holmes: Analysis of 69 solds in boise less then $200,000.
- 08/08/16 08:48 AM
69 homes have closed in Boise that was listed less then 3 months ago below $200,000. This is truly a sellers market with the average days on the market 7 days before marked pending. The sellers are averaging 99.6% of there list price. 22 of these 69 homes sold above list price. 29 of these homes sold below list price. This means we have a lot market with low inventory. The homes that sold for less were usually less expensive homes with probable repairs.
If you want a great agent that understands the market and data give Debbie Holmes, 208-761-2551 a call. (1 comments)
debbie holmes: Affordable housing in Boise
- 08/05/16 01:46 AM
In Boise we know their is not enough inventory. For fun I decided to look for 3 bedroom, 2 bath homes between $150,000 - $200,000. This is a good starting point for a lot of Boisians who are looking for their first home. It also compares favorably to what the same house would cost to rent. I found 136 of these homes. Some of them new listings others that have sat a while. If you are afraid to get your feet wet call me. Between you me and the loan officer we will figure out what you can afford. It is a beautiful summer evening. It is time to go to the Idaho Shakesphere festival! It runs through the summer! Our outside cultural event! You can bring your own picnic with wine or beer (wine is classier) or buy your dinner at the Cafe Shakespeare. You can sit on the lawn or buy a table and share (box seat) or sit in a chair in the stands. Either way you will have a great experience. Tonight's show is "Twelfth Night". The show start with a original "Green Show". It is funny and original to Boise! Then the play. Either a Shakespeare (4 comments)
