For example, last year's typical seller was 54 years old, had been living in their home for 10 years, and had a median income of … (3 comments)

home selling: Today's Homeowner Stays In One Place Longer - 11/13/16 02:54 AM
There are a lot of things to consider when deciding whether or not to sell your house and move. Home values, your mortgage rate, school district, plans for the future, and proximity to friends and family all play a role. In other words, after buying a house, homeowners generally stay there for a handful of years – if only to avoid uprooting their life.  These days, however, Americans are staying in their homes almost 60 percent longer than they did before the housing crash. Traditionally, homeowners moved every six years or so. Now it's closer to 10 years. Lawrence Yun, the … (2 comments)

home selling: Selling Your Dallas Home during the Holidays - 12/07/15 09:38 AM
Advantages to Selling Your Home over the Holidays
Selling your Dallas home during the holiday season may sound like a less than ideal game plan, but there are some advantages now present only at this time of year. It’s true that some extra effort may be called for, but it can be worth the endeavor: there are several factors that make showings at this time of year particularly promising.
The first advantage is the flip side of the greatest disadvantage: the slowdown in real estate activity we usually expect over the holidays. That relative paucity of active prospects means fewer showings, so the … (3 comments)

In fact, 66 percent of respondents said they plan on buying a house the next time they move, compared to just 29 percent of participants who said they'd prefer to rent.
Doug Duncan, Fannie Mae's chief economist, said consumers are as optimistic about their personal financial situation as they have been at any time since the survey began in 2010. … (0 comments)

home selling: Americans Enter New Year Feeling Confident - 01/06/15 10:01 PM
Real Estate Minute | Tim Stoll

The economy and housing market are linked in such a way that one can't do very well without the other. That's why even though a large majority of Americans continue to express a desire to own their own home, residential real estate has experienced a gradual, up-and-down recovery since the financial crisis and housing crash. Without sustained growth and a healthy economy, the housing market's rebound has been volatile and consumers who would otherwise be interested in buying have held off. But recent economic improvement – and the expectation of further gains in 2015 … (1 comments)

For Sale by Owner Can Be Risky Business!

When you determine to sell your house, one of the first choices that comes up is tactical: do you try to sell it yourself as a Dallas “For Sale by Owner” property—or do you enlist a real estate agent? Since your object is to maximize your profit, you might think that most thrift-minded home owners would decide to eliminate the agent’s commission and do the work themselves. The majority of sellers ultimately team up with a Dallas real estate agent. Sometimes they go the For Sale … (0 comments)

home selling: Flaws You Cannot Hide By Staging Your Dallas Home - 06/12/14 12:15 PM

When you sell your Dallas home, you want it look as good as possible. To do this, your real estate agent will help you stage your home or, if needed, help you find a professional to stage your home. This means de-cluttering your home, re-arranging furniture, and de-personalizing each room.
A staged home is more appealing to buyers and helps to highlight your home’s positive features. However, staging is not meant to cover major flaws in your home. Some things just have to be repaired.
