home staging training: Want to see an amazing TRANSFORMATION to a 20 year old dead space? - 04/29/14 02:56 AM
As part of the 5 day Certified PRES home staging and redesign training program we go into 2 real client's home and in just one day...TRANSFORM them!
“Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God” is whatour client kept repeating as she looked at her 20 year old home once we transformed it! One of the things I absolutely LOVE about the Certified PRES home staging and redesign training programs is that students go into real client’s homes to apply the theory they learned in the classroom.
Every home owner has things that they really love but they don’t necessarily … (5 comments)

home staging training: Have you ever made a bed out of shower doors? PRES stagers have! - 11/16/12 11:48 PM
Have you ever made a bed out of shower doors? PRES stagers have! Stagers always need to ‘think outside the box’ to create new ways of using furnishings that help us create the right look. For example during one of the PRES staging training classes we needed to create a guest bedroom downstairs. During my consultation I had recommended to the seller that they purchase 2 blow up beds – she felt she could use the beds for company when she moved. Like many home sellers, she had good intentions but ran out of time, money and energy. In this case … (6 comments)

home staging training: Heritage Edwardian Home in Vancouver is STAGED TO SELL! - 06/15/12 01:12 AM
Heritage Edwardian Home in Vancouver is STAGED TO SELL! (well almost) After years of waiting – city permits, renovations, contractors, etc. this 1902 Edwardian Heritage Class B home in Vancouver is finally being staged to sell, and it is a beauty! It was originally built by John Kemp. Several years ago Dana J. Smithers of the PRES Staging Resource Centre auctioned off her ‘Home Staging’ services. The successful bidder wanted the service for a property her daughter was going to be selling. Even though the expiry date for the Staging was expired Dana honoured it because it was an exciting challenge … (5 comments)

home staging training: In the Vancouver market should you replace carpet with hardwood? - 05/18/12 07:05 AM
In the Vancouver Market should you replace the existing carpet with carpet or hardwood or ceramic tiles?
This was a blog post/article I found in one of my LinkedIn Groups. Take a read of it and I'd love to hear what you think. And of course there are lots of parameters to consider such as time, budget and energy!
When I teach my PRES home staging certification course I give my personal philosophy which is this: for my market I say 'yes' to carpet in bedrooms and formal living rooms; I prefer hardwood in living/family rooms and tiles in entranceways, kitchens (or … (0 comments)

I have coached 1000s of home sellers on the best investments to make when selling their home. Kitchens and bathrooms are undoubtedly two of the most important rooms in the home. home staging training: Personal Collections Could Cost You the Sale of Your Home in Vancouver! - 04/02/12 08:53 AM
Personal Collections Could Cost You the Sale of Your Home in Vancouver!
Okay I admit that’s a little dramatic saying that ‘you could potentially lose your home sale because of your personal collections’ but, it is a proven fact that potential buyers can be distracted and put off by some of the personal collections that people have in their homes. Could be they don’t like what they see on the MLS since 90% of buyers look there first!
Now for living in your home, it is a very good thing to surround ourselves with reminders and personal mementos of special places … (7 comments)

home staging training: Want to know how to get on television promoting home staging? Follow my journey... - 06/28/11 10:28 AM
As a pioneer in the Canadian home staging industry I believe it's my duty to promote and educate the public on the benefits of home staging. It is a proven fact that staged homes sell for more money and sooner than homes that are not staged. All home stagers know this to be true!In one of my January Active Rain blogs I talked about Vision Boards and how to create them using the Western Feng Shui Bagua. On my Vision Board I put a picture of a local television show I wanted to be on, in fact I had wanted to … (8 comments)

home staging training: Saying 'No' to your Home Staging Client - 11/25/09 05:53 AM
I have been teaching home staging and redesign for over 5 years now. During the course we actually go into real client's homes to do the hands-on practicum of the course. I often contact realtors and home sellers for training homes.
I can't believe some of the homes realtors will 'offer' me. A home that is smelly (pet or just plain dirty) I will not do personally, nor would I bring students into it. I will say 'no' to the seller who has mounds and mounds of clutter and personal items that they claim they can pack up in a few … (1 comments)

home staging training: Keeping Your Dream of Becoming A Home Stager ALIVE! - 11/13/09 03:31 AM
Hello,
I have been teaching interior decorating, home redesign and home staging since 2001. I have had the privilege of seeing entrepreneurial women soar to great heights and I have also seen many walk away from their dream career.  So why does this happen?
My answer to this question is twofold.  It may not have been the ‘right’ dream in the first place or they let life squash their dream.  And by the ‘right dream’ I mean they might have thought it was their passion but when they actually took the course they realized that this wasn’t really what they wanted … (1 comments)

As small business owners we make up a very large percentage of the work force, and in particular women are more successful than men in growing a small business.
For the past 6 years I have been teaching a professional Home Staging & Redesign course. I left a successful corporate career of 20+ years to pursue something that I had a real passion for, but, did not know … (1 comments)
