sports: How fast can you throw? - 10/03/08 08:39 AM
About 15 years ago, I was coaching youth sports. The longer that I was involved, the deeper I got into it. Also, the more detailed that I got about it. I looked at almost every gimmick that was put out. All that I was hoping to achieve was to better the players skill. One of the things that I wish I had access to was a radar gun.
Sports and Traffic Radar Guns are made similar. When I left my home town in Georgia, I decide that I would coach a team in my new city. One of the fathers of … (20 comments)

sports: Miami Bound - The BCS Hunt - Week 4 - 09/24/08 09:02 AM
Week 4 saw the two top teams in all of the nation sit by idly as most of the college football nation played their hearts out. It seems as the AP and the USA today polls still can not get on the same page as their number 5 ranking is different. As stated in my first post, I will be going off the USA Today poll. Week 4 brought us some good matches too. However, it seems that the 3 teams that played still dominated their opponents. Georgia got to travel across the nation to face ASU. Florida took a  ride … (3 comments)

sports: NFL Sunday Picks - Week 2 - 09/13/08 01:15 PM
Last week I kinda took a shellacking with the picks. I am hoping to redeem some face this week as we get set to undertake some great games. I have to say that there were a ton of upsets that I did not expect and some upsets that I expected that did not happen. This week I am also adding in a fantasy football look to some of the games.
What did make it good for me is that I did get to see all the games on DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket. Being able to catch all the teams playing and … (7 comments)

sports: Show your team spirit - 08/28/08 04:41 AM
Rich Dansereau wrote a post on Tuesday detailing the opening college games. I thought that it was a great post on the NCAA Division one conferences. Tonight will be a big night in a lot of cities, so I hope that you are prepared to catch your team. With that said, tomorrow is National Color Day. This is the one day that all are suppose to come together in represtation of the schools colors. So, when you are getting ready for work tomorrow, just remember that you need to wear your college's colors. I know I will.

sports: 2008 NFL Season Preview - 08/26/08 10:12 AM
As some of you are well aware, I have been working on a preview of all 32 teams in the NFL. Well, yesterday I finished that preview and decided to put together a post with all 32 teams on there. I hope that you enjoy reading about them.
*Disclainer* Remember that this is my opinion based on what I saw at the time of writing these post. Since the original write, some things have changed that will effect the outcome.

New coach, Same team (Baltimore Ravens) Will the Cardinals Soar? Buffalo Bills or Buffalo Bull? Will the Falcons Fly High? … (13 comments)

sports: Any Given Sunday - 08/24/08 02:59 AM
So, to get ready for the upcoming 2008 NFL season, I reached into the vault and pulled out one of my favorites. Any Given Sunday was originally released December 22, 1999. It was directed by Oliver Stone and has a star studded cast with the likes of Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Dennis Quaid, James Woods, LL Cool J, Charlton Heston, Bill Bellamy, and Jim Brown. It also has footage of actual football greats such as Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown, Dick Butkus, and Terrell Owens. With a cast like this and footage as such, what football fan would not enjoy … (10 comments)

sports: Update on NFL Preview - 20 teams - 08/11/08 05:45 AM
For those of you that follow me you know that I have been doing a NFL football team a day giving my perspective of what I think their team will do for this year on SportsFanatic. This is my sports blog on Today that I originally started prior to AthleticAlley. So far I have done the first 20 teams taking it alphabetically. I originally was going to skip the Giants and the Patriots till the last and then decided to just keep in sequence. If you notice, I go back and forth between the AFC and NFC.
Now that my reader … (7 comments)

sports: Are you NFL Ready? - 08/02/08 02:06 AM
The 2008 NFL season is coming fast upon us. Before you know it pigskins will be flying all over the place. My question to you is a simple one. Are you NFL ready?
Well, if you are anything like me, then you have already subscribed to DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket. If not, it is easy to get them. Just click the link here of the box below.

Now you ask why DirecTV? Well, that is quite simple too. Where else can you watch each and every game each and every Sunday? The answer is this: Nowhere. Last year I was able to get … (9 comments)

sports: Football season preview update - 08/01/08 05:50 AM
As some of you know, I have been running a series on SportsFanatic for the last 10 days with another 22 days left to go breaking down how I feel about each and every team individually. I have been taking it in alphabetical order so far and plan to skip over the 2 Superbowl teams for now.
With that said, I thought that I would give you an updated post to provide the last 10 reviews that I did. find your team and read what I have to say about them or better yet, if you are a fantasy player, read … (2 comments)

sports: Can you smell FOOTBALL? - 07/24/08 02:24 PM
Baseball is just past the All-star break and heading for the trade deadline and yet it is football that I smell in the air. The last 2 days worth of post that I have written on SportsFanactic have been based on the upcoming season and my review of the teams.
With that said, I thought that I would write a post here to let you know that I am reviewing all 32 teams in 32 days. And since that means I have already posted 2, I have 30 left to go.
So, if you what to see what I think about … (10 comments)

sports: Baseball highlights - version 6.29 - 06/29/08 07:05 AM
Sports has never ceased to amaze me with some of the rules that they put in place. Let me give you a great example of such a rule that MLB instituted a few years ago. It goes something like this. If a team allows no hits for an amount of 8 innings, yet does not pitch a ninth inning, then they have not thrown a no hitter. Whoever decided to make that rule up must have been no-hit a few times in their lifespan and still won but was sick of having the no-hitter labeled against them. For all you great … (9 comments)

sports: Georgia Bulldogs looking to clinch - 06/24/08 03:38 AM
If you have been following any of my sports post lately, you know that the Georgia Bulldogs are on a tear right now. Since entering the final stages of the 2008 Men's College World Series being held at Omaha's Johnny Rosenblatt's Stadium, The Bulldogs of Georgia remain undefeated. With that said, the road has not always been peachy for them. Let's take a review.
Georgia played in the SEC tournament and was pretty much a no show there. They were knocked out in the first round. Ole Miss put them out in the first round of the Losers bracket. With that … (6 comments)

sports: Baseball highlights - version 6.17 - 06/17/08 03:41 AM
Baseball is a weird came in that one bad night or one good night can change the direction you are going as a player but might not do a thing for the team you are on. In some cases, it can be productive for the team and in some cases, it can be majorly destructive for the team.
As much as I would like to write about the demise in baseball, I think I will not jump on the Willie Train today. New York has a new general and I have to tell you, that is not a job that I … (6 comments)

sports: Mets Meltdown in Atlanta - 05/22/08 02:39 PM
Earlier tonight I wrote a post on my other blog entitled Braves Attempt to sweep Mets tonight. Well, it is no longer an attempt as they withstood the test of Johan Santana and the New York Mets as they spin off yet another home win to lead all the majors for home victories.
What really gets me is the fact that everyone was practically handing the Mets the Nation League East Pennant when they signed Santana and stating that he would be the next big thing in New York to bring home a World Series Trophy. But, that is not … (8 comments)

sports: baseball at it's finest - 05/19/08 12:14 PM

What I look for in a good season every year is contention and teams keeping it interesting. With that said, this year there is no clear front runner. The hottest team in baseball resides in the Nation League West. Heck, for that matter, the 2 best teams in baseball are in the National League with the Boston Red Soxs sitting in third at .585. The DBacks are kicking butt and taking names and The Chicago Cubs are right there with Sweet Lou. In the National League and American League East 6 games seperate top to bottom.
If you would have … (2 comments)

sports: Braves Baseball - 05/08/08 10:23 AM
Can any team be hotter than the Atlanta Braves? With Chipper Jones and Manny Acosta providing the power in hitting and closing, the Braves are on a roll like you have never seen before. As for the pitching, the Braves have currently on the DL Mike Gonzalez, Mike Hampton, Anthony Lerew, Peter Moylan, John Smoltz, Rafael Soriano. These 6 pitchers were figured in to be big parts of the plans this year.
The Braves have enjoyed success on the most recent home stand but it still seems like it is all for naught as they still remain 3rd in their division. … (8 comments)

sports: Baseball - Opening Day - 03/28/08 04:25 AM
This years opening day actually took place overseas in Japan and pitted the Oakland Athletics against the Boston Red Sox in a 2 game series that saw each team come away with a victory. With that being said, the Opening Day game here in the United States will pit the Atlanta Braves against the Washington Nationals. How fitting to have America's team go up against the Nation's capital's team. Atlanta will be sending right hander Tim Hudson to the mound to square off against the former Atlanta Braves left hander Odalis Perez. Both pitchers are looking good and both teams are … (11 comments)

sports: Local Baseball and what it means to our community - Baseball Talk 101 Contest - 03/11/08 08:15 AM
Atlanta and the greater metro area is blessed to have the Atlanta Braves. The Braves organization brings a lot to the community and to Metro Atlanta as a whole. Besides the ability to see a major league games, meet stars, get autographs, and spend a day at the park, you have to step back and take a look at what these people do for the community.
First and foremost, having a team like the Braves is an attraction to the area. An attraction that not only brings in revenue from visitors, but potential homeowners. Baseball fans come into our fair region … (6 comments)
