carthay circle real estate: My Los Angeles - 11/24/08 02:37 PM
By Danny Mahelka
I had a great conversation with a new client yesterday, a client who will be flying in from overseas in 2 weeks. This will be his first trip to the Los Angeles area.  He was referred by another client who had praised my knowledge of the individual neighborhoods in and around the Greater Miracle Mile area. I love to show out of town clients my Los Angeles.  I say my Los Angeles, because I live and work in an area that is unique and wonderful and maybe slightly overlooked.  Everyone knows about Beverly Hills and Brentwood, but many people … (0 comments)

carthay circle real estate: Market Update - 11/24/08 02:31 PM
By Danny Mahelka
There are a couple of really important things to remember in today's market.  First, despite the fact that the market has changed there are still homes being bought and sold everyday.  Yes, prices have changed and the way in which loans are approved has changed; but business is still occurring.  If you are interested in navigating this new market you will need to have a realtor, like myself, who is an expert in the area in which you want to buy or sell. No matter what the market does there is one consistent theme in real estate. It might … (0 comments)

carthay circle real estate: Living in the Greater Miracle Mile Area - 11/19/08 11:14 PM
 By Danny Mahelka
I live and work in the Greater Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles.  One of the many things I enjoy about this area is the diversity of lifestyle choices all within a short distance of each other.  When you consider that there are people living in luxury high rise condos on the Wilshire Corridors and their lifestyle is a very fast-pace urban experience, while only a few blocks away there are families in the Carthay Circle area enjoying a suburban neighborhood lifestyle where everyone knows each other, its actually quite amazing.  There really is something for everyone. I have clients … (0 comments)

carthay circle real estate: The Miracle Mile - 11/18/08 10:13 AM
by Danny Mahelka
It's hard to imagine that when A.W. Ross purchased the Miracle Mile in 1920 for $54,000, a staggering sum at the time, it was nothing more that an unpaved road. Ross was quite the visionary. He redesigned his "dirt road" with traffic in mind.  Wilshire Blvd. became the first street to have designated left hand turn lanes and synchronized traffic lights.  By 1928 the first major department store had moved in, Bullocks opened their doors with an amazing architectural wonder which included a parking lot in the back to offset parking issues.  The rest as they say is … (0 comments)

carthay circle real estate: Halloween in West Hollywood - 11/12/08 11:30 PM
By Danny Mahelka
Halloween may be a nationally recognized holiday, but in West Hollywood, it's a week-long celebration. We're known for our costume party on Santa Monica Boulevard for a reason; six designated hours to, as the catch phrase says, "Eat, drink, and be scary."
Many of the costumes are what you would see anywhere else, of course. You have the Playboy Bunnies, the cheerleaders, and more than a handful of clowns. It's only in West Hollywood, though, that you'll see your Playboy Bunny as fifteen men all over 6' tall and more than 200 lbs., complete with hairy legs and … (0 comments)

carthay circle real estate: The Pacific Design Center - 11/08/08 01:41 PM
By Danny Mahelka

Los Angeles is an amazing place. It's easy to forget how fabulous it is when you have lived here for a long time. I love showing our fair city to friends and clients from out of town. Its great reminder to me how really remarkable our home is.
I took an out of town friend to the Pacific Design Center the other day. It was so much fun to see this truly spectacular facility with fresh eyes. It really is spectacular. Where else can you go and see over 130 showrooms and 2,100 different product lines under … (0 comments)

carthay circle real estate: Carthay Center Elementarty School - 10/22/08 04:47 AM
By Danny Mahelka
I am a tremendous fan of Carthay Center Elementary School.  Whether you are considering moving to the area or have been here for a while I thought it would be worthwhile  to provide you with some insightful information about the school.
Carthay Center Elementary School is located in Historic Carthay Circle, Los Angeles, California.  To be exact, it is located at 6351 West Olympic Blvd.  It first opened in 1923.  Rubbing elbows with Beverly Hills and sporting the beautiful La Cienega Park, the neighborhood itself gets fabulous reviews.  The area is rich in architecture, with no two homes alike.  … (0 comments)
