Here's a view over Lake Washington, with the Olympic Mountains in the background silhouetted. The Twin Sisters Peaks standing out in this view. We recently had the chance to enjoy a night of Jazz music performed by various jazz bands in the Lake Washington School District. Of particular interest to us were Inglewood Middle School where one of our boys is a drummer and Eastlake High School where another plays bass. This is an annual event and fundraiser for the music programs ranging from Elementary to High School. Desserts and beverages were served and everyone had a great time listening and some even danced. I hope to see you next year when we do it again. Here (2 comments)
Driving south through Issaquah Front Street becomes the Issaquah Hobart Road. Between Squak Mountain and Tiger Mountain there is a place called Poo Poo Point. It’s a high hill with a bald spot you can see from a distance. If you look closely around the top of the hill you notice something in the air. Actually on a clear sunny day you can see many something’s buzzing around this hill. While driving by, look up and you’ll see anywhere from one to thirty brave souls flying through (7 comments)
Look up; there are Tulips in the trees! Last week when we toured the Tulip Fields of RoozenGaarde, I couldn’t help but notice these tulips in the trees. Today I’m posting just the one picture. If you care to see the other recent Tulip and Daffodil blogs, you can see Silent Sunday, Tell a Tale of Tulips Game, Wordless Wednesday, Tulips 2013 and Wordless Wednesday, Daffodils?
Last week while visiting the show gardens of RoozenGaarde in the Skagit Valley, about 90 minutes from Sammamish, we noticed the great names of many of the flowers. In my Wordless Wednesday Tulips 2013 post, I highlighted many groups of flowers throughout the grounds. I will focus on individual Tulips in this post and I have a challenge for you. Can you tell a brief story using some or all of the names of flowers below? It could be fun.
Eastlake Sammamish Park, (aka ESP) is a place to play, party & picnic. Located at the on the northern side of Sammamish is Eastlake Sammamish Park. The covered area can be reserved for group events.
The ball fields are busy this time of year with Eastlake Little League almost every night.
The play structures are rarely this quiet, but it was a cool school day when I took these.
When writing an offer to buy a home, I try to write as clean an offer as possible in order to make the terms acceptable to the seller. There are no limits to the contingencies a buyer can add to their offer. Some are fairly standard and easily accepted most of the time, but with each additional contingency a seller has a reason to say no.

dan elsie tabit: Home Buyers & Home Brewers around Sammamish & the Eastside

Home Buyers & Home Brewers around Sammamish & the Eastside. I enjoy a good craft beer. I’d rather drink one quality ale than any amount of the more popular beers, and one is usually all I have. With this in mind, when I turned 30 my wife and best friend bought me my first Home Brewing Kit. It came complete with the ingredients and instructions for a simple Amber Ale. The most difficult part of making my first batch was waiting for the wort (pronounced wert) to ferment. The wort is the mix of grain extracts, water and hops.
A client/friend's nephew toured Seattle and documented his journey in this great video piece. As a lifetime native I've been to most of the places he visited, but not all. Take a short trip with this talented videographer for a peek at my big city. It's just 3 minutes long and I think you'll enjoy it. If you do, vote for his effort and help him earn some college money. Let's show him the power of ActiveRain!

After months of searching, showing, preparing for financing, submitting offers only to miss out and start again, my favorite moment in every transaction is when I get to hand over the keys to the buyer. This time was especially fun. I've known these first time home buyers for a while. Welcome Home Holen Family! (4 comments)
As a lifetime Seattle area resident and a long suffering baseball fan, I’m looking forward to Opening Night. This year The Mariners start their schedule on the road in Oakland on Monday April 1st. The home opener will be one week later on Monday April 7th against our new AL West Team, The Astros.
These are some pictures I took last year at Safeco. Felix Hernandez had pitched his perfect game the week before, and my sons & I attended his next outing. I’m optimistic this will be a (5 comments)
Kirkland’s Google campus to double, Kirkland’s home values also on the rise. King 5 news reports that the Kirkland Washington’s campus will double in size, adding 1000 more employees to their already busy campus. Google has found our area to be a fruitful source of high tech employees recruiting from sources like Microsoft and Amazon.
With more jobs for Google employees and the construction workers expanding the campus, the already increasing housing prices are likely to continue in the coming months.
My recent experience with buyers in Kirkland has been one of multiple offers with homes (5 comments)
We all see on the news that homes are selling like crazy, buyers are lining up and bidding wars are commonplace again. Why should I hire and pay for an agent?
Great question and one I asked before I was a broker and understood what it takes to generate all this traffic and sort through the offers. I can answer it simply; it isn’t an accident that some homes are selling quickly and others aren’t. In a recent market report for Sammamish, the average days (5 comments)
This picture was taken from the Tilingit neighborhood in central Sammamish on Thompson Hill. I've used this picture as the backdrop and banner for my AR blog and my Facebook cover page. I love the colors and the silhouette of the trees against the lake. (4 comments)
Silent Sunday, Sunbeams in the Kirkland Sky. While driving into downtown Kirkland, the original home of Costco and the namesake for Costco's Kirkland brand products, the sun broke through some darker clouds, almost blinding me as I headed west toward Lake Washington. I grabbed my phone to snap this while at a stop light. (7 comments)
