- 04/05/14 12:24 AM
The Hoods Canal Spot Shrimp sport season generally opens during the month of May with clear blue skies and majestic Olympic Mountain views. This has lured the sportsmen and ladies out like only Hood Canal can. With baited and set pots the fishermen awaited the first easy limit. By 10:00 am the first shrimp are in the cooler . . Still, limits (80 shrimp/person). This is truly one fishing activity that the boater and crew need to be prepared for and not have any impaired senses. DEPTH: Didn't matter the first opening, 200-230 ft worked well and was supported by local knowledge. (0 comments)
Its ok with your evergreens, dogwood, spirea, maples, deutzia, mock orange, elderberry and buddleia. Its best todo your roses in stages, starting by removing dead or diseased wood and large old canes right down to the ground. In mid-March, start pruning the roses with careful attention to detail and begin fertilizing program. Some vines like (0 comments)
hood canal: When is good time to sell my home
- 03/24/14 02:19 AM
With spring in the air , hoping to sell this year-----The 4-month moving average for Housing Starts is the highest since July 2008. Some economists feel the underlying trend for home building is upward and should remain that way for a couple of years. February, however, saw Existing Home Sales dip 0.4%, to a 4.60 million annual rate. But these closings came from contracts signed when harsh weather was slowing many markets. A lack of inventory has also been sending buyers to new homes. But median prices are up 9.1% annually WOW, encouraging more sellers to list, and inventories were up (1 comments)

- 11/23/13 06:28 AM
Its a great time to sell!! Remind yourself of the tax advantages of closing a transaction before January. Also the deals are more plentiful for both buyers and sellers because there is less competition at this time of year. Keep in mind that interest rates are expected to rise in 2014, so now is the time to take advantage of the historic lows. So call me today. www.daryldatus.com 360-801-6373 (1 comments)

The economy added 204,000 non-farm jobs in October, putting the unemployment rate at 7.3 percent for the month, and the total number of jobless Americans at 11.3 percent, according to last week’s report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. HUD’s Contingency Plan states that FHA will endorse new loans in the Single Family Mortgage Loan Program, but it will not make new commitments in the Multi-family Program during the shutdown. FHA will maintain operational activities including paying claims and collecting premiums. Management & Marketing (M&M) Contractors managing the REO portfolio can continue to operate. You can expect some delays with FHA processing.

A new law emphasizing the importance of carbon monoxide alarms in Washington homes has created many questions about which real estate transactions it affects. Here are a few points synopsized from a recent Coldwell Banker Danforth memo to clarify the requirements: As of April 1, 2012, sellers of OWNER OCCUPIED single family homes, condos and mobile homes must install carbon monoxide alarms prior to closing. hood canal: this house has mold!
- 08/11/13 01:19 AM
Mold is a common occurrence in homes, but it can potentially cause health problems as well as damage to structures and surfaces if it is not controlled. Mold begins growing indoors when spores come in contact with wet surfaces or substances. Once established, mold can be very difficult to remove successfully - so prevention is the key.
MOLD PREVENTION Mold cannot grow in the absence of moisture. Moisture can take the form of leaks, spills, condensation, and humidity, so controlling sources of moisture is the most important step in mold prevention. Here are some ways to avoid creating conditions in which (4 comments)
hood canal: information for selling and buying homes mason county
- 07/01/13 02:07 AM
INFO THAT HITS US WHERE WE LIVE... No one has been more resolute and determined than those working in the housing market and, yes, more opportunities are arising. Last Tuesday new single-family home sales were reported up 2.1% in May, to a better than expected 476,000 annual rate and up 29% versus a year ago. There were 4,000 more units in inventory, so the months' supply edged up to 4.1, despite the faster sales pace. But that's well below the 5.7-month average of the last 20 years and near the 4-month average of the 1998-2004 housing boom. So as sales grow, (0 comments)
hood canal: More inventory needed good time to sell Mason county
- 06/07/13 01:50 AM
The current market is the best of most worlds: low interest rates, a supply of homes to choose from that are aggressively priced, and lenders who are beginning to engage in 'make sense' loans." TheWashington state housing market allows for a buyers and sellers market. If you are looking to buy a home, now is the time to start the process and make it happen! If you are looking to sell your home, the current housing market situation is favorable as well. The housing inventory is low and there is a high buyer demand; thus getting your home on the market (0 comments)
