mortgage: Mortgage Mess in simple easy to understand terms - 02/24/10 01:26 AM
I was just emailed this and it really breaks down the mortgage mess in simple and easy to understand real-life situation.  Well, it will be for many of you...the rest you need to put the drink down to get it.
Heidi is the proprietor of a bar in Detroit . She realizes that virtually all of her customers are unemployed alcoholics and, as such, can no longer afford to patronize her bar. To solve this problem, she comes up with new marketing plan that allows her customers to drink now, but pay later.
She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a … (2 comments)

mortgage: Alert to lock - 04/23/08 07:09 AM
"You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try."Beverly Sills (1929-2007)American opera singer
If you love volatility, you have to be loving the last two weeks.  We have fallen to the worst levels of the day with the stock market buoyed by tech stocks, but this all comes at the expense of the bond market.  There was no Fed news today or any major economics news outside of Microsoft not upping its bid for Yahoo!.
The good news earlier this week that home sales while still down did beat expectations.  That could be the start of … (0 comments)

mortgage: JawBone - the new purchase - 04/08/08 11:05 AM
I am a huge cell phone user.   I am on my phone a couple hours every day.  I use an old Blackbery 8703 from Sprint.  I love it I can do so many things with it.  But, and there is always a but, I have a hard time using it when I have the sunroof open.  The wind is so unbearable that I need to shut the roof and chat, but I won't have to do that anymore.
From what I understand, this device was picked by a large Real Estate franchise as one of its products to buy for it's … (0 comments)

mortgage: A Crisis of Confidence - Bears Stearns Bail Out - Fed cuts rate - 03/17/08 01:10 AM
JP Morgan buys Bear at $2 a share, it was valued at $171 in January 07, and one investor will lose $1.16billion at least on paper.  You know a billion here and a billion here and sooner or later you are talking real money.  Stocks Futures are opening down sharply as the Fed pumps in money to bail out Bear Stearns.  It is not so much a bailout as it makes sure that is does not collapse.  Bears was a holding house for other brokerage companies and if it would have failed then those other companies would have had a very … (1 comments)

mortgage: DownPayment still Alive and Well - 02/29/08 01:40 AM

UPDATE
Gaithersburg, MD - AmeriDream's programs including down payment assistance will continue.  On October   31, 2007 United States Federal District Court Judge Paul L. Friedman ruled in the case of AmeriDream v. Jackson that the Department of Housing and Urban Development could not implement its regulation on downpayment assistance. As a result of that ruling, the HUD regulation will never be effective at any date, or with respect to any downpayment assistance provider, unless the ruling blocking the regulation is withdrawn.  Judge Paul L. Friedman, the United States District Court Judge who issued the ruling blocking the HUD regulation, confirmed today … (1 comments)

mortgage: Daily Quote - Principles - 02/05/08 03:53 PM
"Circumstances should neveralter principles."Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)Irish writer & critic
I have been reading a lot of articles lately of people who have been swept up in the heat of the moment only to have their world come crashing down.  They make a call in momentary lapse of judgement for the sake of money or toget a closing to happen, and they pay for it with their livelihood.
But, did they really, were they really long for this business if they were willing to let circumstances dictate to them.  Stick to your principles at the end of the day it is all you have.

mortgage: Transfer of Trust - 02/05/08 02:49 AM
I was struck the other day at this notion of "Transfer of Trust".  We market ourselves, we blog, we do a lot of things to drive people to us and our business and business philosophies.  We get clients or better yet create clients, but when do they trust us?
We are helping them find the home of their dreams or in my case helping them create probably the largest debt they will every have.  That is a lot of trust that they are putting in us, but at what point do they transfer it to us.  Do we educate them and … (0 comments)

mortgage: How Long Does a Water Heater Last? - 11/25/07 03:09 AM
I was in my basement with my parents on Thanksgiving night.  I was giving my mom some of my old sweatshirts and fleeces.  I have a million of them and some of them do go out of the rotation.  I am not a handy person.  We do not put hammers or other tools into my hands.  Well, you do if you want a good laugh.
Well, I was in our basement bathroom and it also where our waterheater is.  I noticed the date on my waterheater and a date that was nearly 16 years old.  I asked my dad how long should … (6 comments)

mortgage: The Watercooler - 10/30/07 02:25 AM
Well, the end of October is fast approaching.  I think I saw frost on the pumpkin this morning.  We had our trick or treat the other night and I went pretty well.  We were out of town so I did not trick nor did I treat.
I am afraid however that the realy trick will soon be upon us.  Property taxes, we still have not recieved ours and I was hearing some old men complain at the gas station this morning that he had not seen his yet as well.
What the heck Indiana?  You can be the great pumpkin or … (2 comments)

mortgage: Mortgage Lingo 101 Part 1 - 10/29/07 03:07 AM
I want to clarify some mortgage lingo.  I had a Realtor get mad at me this summer because I poured out some terms that she did not understand and she thought I was trying to talk over her head and I was not.
I am going to do this in several different blogs and feel free to write or call with any questions.
this is a big one...
Pre-Qualified- Really means little to nothing.  Pre-Qualed is another popular term for it means that a mortgage rep from an investor has looked at the credit report and mortgage application and determined that it fits her … (6 comments)

mortgage: Thump, Thump, Splat, Splat, Ow = Teamwork - 10/27/07 02:19 PM
I played paintball today.  It was a blast, I have played before used to do it all the time in college, but I got away from the game as I got a little older and I moved away from my regular game.  I got a chance to play today with my brother and a bunch of guys from his work and some of their sons.
I had so much fun and we all played as a team using hands signals and other forms of non-verbal communication.  We were able to beat the other team in several different scenarios.  i was able to … (3 comments)

mortgage: Ipod University - what my Ipod teaches me - 09/28/07 05:28 AM
Early this summer, I took the plunge and  bought an Ipod.  Yes, I know I am just a little slow on the rage, but I am fast learner.  And, that is what I am here to talk about.  I am huge fan of Zig Ziglar's school of thought and his Automobile University.
In his seminars, he has told a story of his assistant that happens to just have at best a high school education.  Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking her educational status, just stating a fact.  I know a lot of people that have less than that and … (7 comments)

mortgage: Mortgage Meltdown - not if you play your cards right - 09/10/07 03:58 PM
I did this as an email a few weeks ago and I thought it would be good to do here as a blog.  If you get a chance to read yesterdays News-Dispatch.  I am heavily quoted in the business section.
First let me say that these e-mails are not intended as business generators for My Team and I.  While we have appreciated the opportunity to work with you in the past and would enjoy working with you again, these updates are intended to keep us all working ... period!  We will keep you informed as info is available and will pass along issues that … (2 comments)
