haymarket mls: The House That Just Wouldn't Sell - 01/28/13 03:32 AM
The House That Just Wouldn't Sell...
Some time back I was in a house listed for sale that was really quite impressive.
Rooms were nicely decorated...
Furniture was well arranged....
There was a Beautiful Flower Garden with a meandering pathway...
The view of the property from the street was truly inviting...
In fact, my clients were so impressed, they wanted to buy it! But there was a problem... The Days on the Market for this property had been almost a year and in our area this house should have sold in days - no more than a month. So my buyers asked: "David, what's wrong with this house?" I told them … (2 comments)

haymarket mls: Looking for Something to Do This Weekend? - 01/24/13 03:24 AM
Sometimes, in the mid winter, it can be difficult coming up with things to do on a weekend. The fact is, you've come to the right place if you are looking for something fun or even entertaining to attend over the next few days.
Here are my suggestions:
The Washington DC Murder Mystery Dinner Playhouse is in full swing. I've attended these before and have found them to be very entertaining. Take a Look to get dates and times as well as directions to the event.
I mentioned in an Earlier Post that Alexandria's Restaurant Week Inaugural Edition is running through Sunday the 27th. … (2 comments)

haymarket mls: Even If It Has Cost Me A Mailbox? - 01/22/13 03:48 AM
I'm a Realtor® that has often grumbled to my wife and others I'm close to about our HOA and their Fees! In fact, a short time ago we spent many thousands of dollars fixing up the outside of our house, wrapping it in Vinyl, doing some painting and even replacing the Garage door. You would think the HOA would take notice when doing the Annual Inspection and commend us for helping our home look so nice.
Not so! Instead, a few months ago we were written up and cited for a little rust on our Mailbox. I hadn't noticed it but one … (9 comments)

One of the opportunities we have because of living in Northern Virginia, is always finding something to do in Washington DC. haymarket mls: A Topic That Isn't Totally About Real Estate - 01/12/13 06:15 AM
I confess, I'm not one to make New Year's Resolutions. It's great if you are there and have done so successfully, but years ago, I simply gave that up for one simple reason - failure.
On the other hand, I feel this is a good time of year to make commitments. When you think of it, life is full of commitment. There is the commitment to make payments on the Mortgage, on time and in full each month. There is the commitment to pay for the Car, to protect our Credit and more.
One thing I've learned about Commitment, is it generally … (8 comments)

Our 10 month old granddaughter had a wonderful Christmas this year. Additionally, we had a great time being with her and watching her throughout her first Christmas experience.I couldn't resist posting this photo, shot after gifts were opened. You will observe that her mother was very smart to keep the ornaments a bit higher this year and away from little fingers.

haymarket mls: Your Launching Pad To A Successful Home Purchase - 12/18/12 08:05 AM
The Space Program was in it's infancy during my growing up years. In fact, I remember one of my teachers in Grade School stating, "We will go to the moon someday", and I thought she was a little crazy, perhaps running on a few fries short of a Happy Meal. Well, she turned out to be absolutely right. We did go, walked on the moon and returned. The fact is, our country has enjoyed huge success in traveling through space. As I've pondered our triumphant Space Travel, I've had to ask myself this question: What was the single most important reason for … (8 comments)

haymarket mls: Working from Home? Some Suggestions... - 12/07/12 03:29 AM
There are many people who enjoy the privilege of Working from Home these days. Additionally, those of us who do work from a home office come from all walks of life. For example: Some government employees work from home a day or two a week. In the very populated Northern Virginia area, working from home helps to cut down on the commute and the amount of traffic on the roads. Other corporations allow some of their employees to do the same. Even Real Estate Professionals, at least I do, work from a Home Office. For sure, there are many positives about working … (2 comments)

If you live in Northern Virginia, you can't help but notice the price of housing has been going up. In fact, it's interesting that I've thought a lot about this subject lately and even posting on this blog the reasons I see as to why home prices have been increasing. We all know that Small Rooms can pose BIG problems, especially when endeavoring to sell a house. This is true for both Real Estate Agents who are marketing a particular property and for Home Owners, who are trying to sell that property as well.
