real estate: North Cape May Lower Gold Coast - 06/11/11 02:06 PM
This is a short video accompanied by a poem by Raymond Foss. It is about sand and is a taste of the beach along North Cape May which I like to call "The Lower Gold Coast" . I hope you enjoy it and are fortunate enough to be living close to this area so you can experience some of the most magical sunsets in all of New Jersey.

real estate: Its a good day! - 05/02/11 09:44 AM

As I usually try to do, a few times a week, I got up early this morning to go rowing in the Cape May harbor.  Around the half way point of my morning routine, I passed the US Coast Guard base where the cadets were in the process of raising the flag.  It's a touching ceremony that occurs every morning, every day of the year.  I always appreciate seeing the seamen on the cutters and life boats saluting as the National Anthem plays.  But this morning I felt even more grateful than usual.  The good news about last night's event … (0 comments)

real estate: A Shore Thing - 04/25/11 11:49 AM

Every year, around this time, there seems to be a county wide epidemic of mania that occurs.  OK, maybe it's really just a shore thing within the county.  Either way, after a seemingly depressing winter, where the unemployment rate soared to 17%, temperatures plummeted below 20 degrees, and the population dropped over 80%, things suddenly began to come alive.  I'm no doctor but it sure does sound like community manic-depression to me.
But unlike the mental illness, where it's hard to predict when the highs and lows will manifest, the county's mood shift is pretty reliable.  Yep, it's … (3 comments)

real estate: My $ 14,000 Wastebasket - 01/26/09 05:11 AM
I actually never spent that much money on a wastebasket or even considered it .  I wonder what it even would look like or do for me. All I can picture is something like Rosie from the Jetson's rolling up to me when I say " junk mail "  or " trash pick-up".

The clear message for me is that the times dictate prudent spending. We find ourselves reviewing all expenses very carefully these days and weeding out what is important and what can wait. Damn! I really had my eye on the $ 4000 lemon zest peeler too. … (5 comments)

real estate: 2 car garage with 2 cars in it - 12/07/08 07:11 AM
Well , one thing can be said for this economic slowdown : I finally had the time to clean up my gargage and get both cars in it. I thought about a before and after shot but i was too late to get the before and I don't think my wife likes me to advertise how much of a mess our garage was.
I was amazed at how much stuff I found that I had believed lost forever. I found light fixtures and outlets, plumbing parts, all of which I bought more thinking I had none. It's pretty ridiculous to see … (7 comments)

real estate: Opportunity isn't knocking, it's pounding the door down! - 12/02/08 08:36 AM
I'm sitting in my company's office just a few minutes before 5:00 , the receptionist will be leaving in a few minutes and then it will be just me .  I was just thinking back to the times when there would be 5 to 10 agents here until way after 8:00 . I took a look earlier at the REO inventory in the Cape May County real estate market and I saw over 120 with another 900 well on the way .  It is tough to think about some of those folks in that situation at a time of year like this. … (1 comments)

real estate: Is anything Selling? - 11/30/08 02:34 AM
I hear that question almost daily , and i always answer with a resounding yes.  Actually in the Cape May County market just from last Sunday 40 properties went to settlement. When you look at it from an inventory perspective that would be 3 1/3 years of inventory .  That means it is crucial to price a home properly in this market or your chances of selling are extremely slim to none.
Unfortunately for a seller it doesn't matter if you have the special nails or the new roof ( which is actually 5 years old), buyers won't consider those … (0 comments)

real estate: Cape May Mist - 07/28/08 03:28 PM

This is a shot I took this morning while rowing towards the Cape May bridge. It reminded me of all the great moments in this area where you could imagine being in any number of exotic locations around the world. I thought of some river in Thailand early in the morning with exotic birds echoing from the trees off in the distant. 40 minutes later you could easily see the bridge and the houses across the canal. I feel very fortunate to be able to see these special places almost daily. As a Local Realtor with RE/MAX at The Shore I … (1 comments)

real estate: Memorial Day In Cape May - 05/21/08 03:20 PM
Well, our season is finally upon us and everyone I know has been anxiously awaiting the great weather. Even with the high gas prices, the Cape May area sits within a tank of gas from the Philadelphia and New York . Money has been tighter and home prices have fallen a bit so now is the right time to pick up your beach house. In a recent article I read it stated that more millionaires are made in down markets than up markets to an eye opening 8 to 1 ratio. If that's the case these times we are in are overflowing with opportunity.
 These … (0 comments)
