mold: Wood Rot, Decay, Termite Activity, Water Damage and Mold Removal. - 07/13/21 09:34 PM
This is chapter 2 of wood rot, decay, termite activity, and mold.  This is and was stage 2 of the process.

All of the above was cleaned up.  Notice how clean things are now.  All of the wood rot and decay and termites and mold are gone and removed.  Does it look a little better?
When you are working on a home, make sure you are exhausting or putting the house under negative pressure so you do not have debris and wood dust and sheetrock ducts flying everywhere and put plastic around things to protect.

It is simply amazing how things progress if you … (3 comments)

mold: How Soon, Can Mold Attack, Fruits And Vegtables? - 06/30/21 04:53 PM
How soon can Mold attack fruits and vegetables?
This was the client of mine who just got this orange from a grocery store some two days before and the attack has already started.  Imagine that.  Grocery stores should move the produce around regularly at the grocery store.  If they do not do this, the product will be attacked, like the above.  I suggest to grocery stores that not only keep the produced moved around regularly but also wipe the produce as well.

Something that I do that is helpful is to: put all fruits and vegetables in the sink and let them soak … (2 comments)

mold: What Is In, Our Pillows and Mattress, We Sleep On? - 05/31/21 10:26 PM
What is in, our pillows and bed mattress, we sleep on?
Did you know the human body loses over 1 million skin cells a day? Did you know,  that the human body, sheds its skin? Many spend some,  one third of there life,  sleeping but, what many people do not know, is that the dead skin that he or she sheds, has to go some where.  Right? Where do you think or believe it goes? Our dead skin from our body is food for roaches, spiders, mites and more. Did you know that the human body produces over 10 to 12 pounds … (2 comments)

mold: I Know I Have a Problem, but… - 06/19/12 02:15 PM
Have you ever delayed getting a problem fixed around your house?  What were your reasons?  One huge factor causing people to procrastinate is uneasiness.  Having or suspecting mold in your home seems to be the type of problem that creates questions, doubts, and concerns that lead homeowners to feel immobile and avoid taking the action that’s needed to find solutions to their mold problems.  One fallacy about mold is that it won’t happen if your home is clean.  Just as most of us would avoid telling neighbors the house has roaches, some feel ashamed to admit they … (0 comments)

mold: Sensible Mold Allergy Information - 04/23/12 09:35 AM
A friend of mine recently joked that he might just paint his auto yellow so that it would match the pollen that covered his car every day.  The overabundance of pollen may seem like a nuisance to some, but spring is an especially miserable season for people with allergies.  Whether they are seasonal and change with the weather, or year long and change when you go indoors or outside, allergies are at least irritating, and at their worst can cause real damage to your health if not diagnosed and treated properly. One of the most common types of … (1 comments)

mold: Does Your Flood Insurance, Cover Everything? - 02/27/12 09:54 AM
Recently the area of the country I live in his had an abundance of rainfall.  Because of unexpected growth and careless city planning, there are certain city streets and whole neighborhoods that become completely flooded each time it rains.  The aftermath of the flooding is terrible.  The basic structure of many homes and other buildings is compromised.  Some have to be torn down and completely rebuilt.  Others, where the damage seems not to be as severe, require lengthy and expensive reclamation.  Most people focus on getting their homes or businesses back to a livable condition so that they can continue on … (0 comments)

mold: Hassles of Handling Mold. Do You Even Have Elevated Levels? - 02/23/12 08:14 AM
There are over 100,000 species of mold.  Some are readily detectable because of their musty odor and the appearance of black or white patches in areas that normally contain water—such as a bathroom or kitchen.  However, some are not so easily identified, and removing them permanently can be a seriously daunting task.
Most experts say that an area ten square feet or larger will most certainly require removal by a professional, but smaller areas in your home or business may also demand the attention of someone with expertise in the mold removal or remediation field.  For example, suppose you don’t … (1 comments)

mold: Is A Mold Inspection, Really Worth The Money? You Decide - 02/23/12 07:45 AM
Is mold a topic that is worth losing sleepover? With so many “professional” opinions that are floating around the internet, this is a question that has a lot of people divided. Some authorities on this subject feel that mold is a topic that has been hyped up for the sake of marketing, and poses no real long-term effects to people who are exposed to it. Yet scientific research shows that certain strands can produce mycotoxins, which are in fact highly carcinogenic to human beings. Whatever side of this debate you decide to align yourself with, keep in mind that mold, as … (0 comments)

mold: Mold as Old as Time - 01/24/12 09:30 AM
In Biblical days when people were given the Levitical laws concerning purification of their bodies, their food, and their homes, they were warned to stay away from the carcasses of dead animals, to wash clothes that had come in contact with any impure thing, and to destroy earthenware containers into which dead things had fallen.  They were also required in certain circumstances to present themselves or their property to a priest who would certify that the problem had been corrected.  These ancient writings offered sound advice to protect the health and safety of the people.
In our day, most people … (1 comments)

mold: Do You Know The Difference Between Allergies and Mold Symptoms? - 01/16/12 11:33 AM

I have spoken a lot in the past about mold and its toxic effects on humans…especially children. I have written article after article on how to find mold in your home, how to get rid of mold and even how to hire an expert in the area to help you when you are over run with mold.
What I have never talked about is how to spot the signs and symptoms of mold when you don’t know that it is in your home. Mold can grow and hide anywhere, so unless you have somebody come to your home and inspect … (3 comments)

mold: Baby Boomers Beware - 01/02/12 02:55 PM
Recently I saw a TV ad which said that 10,000 people in the USretire every day. This grabbed my attention because I am a Boomer myself who’d just retired in September.  Things have certainly changed in my household since then.  As a widow with kids at home, I’m solely responsible for the upkeep of my house and property.  Things that used to seem minor and easy to correct are really challenging on my new social security and small retirement fund fixed income.  One lesson that I’ve learned is to be very careful before I begin projects or repairs.  It’s very important … (1 comments)

mold: Man gets a speeding ticket for 105mph - 07/27/11 04:53 AM
A man in Manitoba, Canada was caught speeding last year....105 miles per hour with his pregnant wife in the car. "Why was he speeding?", you ask? well, because his wife had complications with her first pregnancy, as well as with this one, there for he felt it necessary to get her to the hospital immediately, an emergency.
The big hype right now is that the man was stopped by a police officer who gave them a lecture, 15 minutes total, along with a speeding ticket combined with a fine of 1,000 dollars. The man has been fighting this, with the apparent … (4 comments)

mold: More thoughts on unemplyment - 07/27/11 04:37 AM
As I talked about very recently in a blog about unemployment, the number of businesses hiring, far outweighs the number of people looking for a job...Here is what truely gets me thinking....
I know, personally, several people who are well educated, well bread, and come from incredibly high paying jobs. These few people used up all of their unemployment and are utilizing food stamps, medicaid, cash assistance programs and grants to get by. These are the people that are the most frustrating to me, because if you have NO income, something is better than nothing...right?
Why make use of our tax … (0 comments)

mold: You wanted more cleaning tips! - 07/26/11 08:51 AM
Elizabeth, here again! I was so shocked by how many of you like cleaning tips, that I decided to do one last blog on different ideas that you may not know about! How do I know all this stuff, you ask? One reason is because I clean homes for a living, the other because I am adicted to reading the backs of labels on cleaning bottles! Did you know that many cleaning products have an abundance of different uses that are not written or advertised on the front of the bottle?
Amonia, for instance, is an incredible oven cleaner! Simply put … (4 comments)

mold: Best cleaning products EVER - 07/23/11 02:49 AM
I am the most frugal person in the world! I do everything I can to save a buck, and still get the quality I am looking for. Now, we all know how difficult this is these days, as quality and service have gone down hill and the value of a buck, well....
Either way, I have owned my own cleaning business for many years and have worked diligently over the years to find the best possible solutions for dirt...at the cheapest price...everything below is tried and true on up to 50 houses per week! Use these few tips and tricks to … (2 comments)

mold: Would you change your life?? - 07/23/11 02:35 AM
I just read a start of a facebook post “If I could start the year over I would change ______” and each person is prompted to fill in the blank. Unfortunately, that blank is too small for most people. What would you change if you could start the year over? A lot of people said that they would change nothing, but some of the others I read, were more involved than that.
So many wished they could renew love, return loved ones from death, go to the doctor, and pay their bills. Some would change their lives completely, some would just … (2 comments)

mold: On a side note... - 07/23/11 02:33 AM
Today, 2 children were found in a Madison, Wisconsin car, dead. The brothers ages 3 and 4 were reported missing by their mother who had had an altercation with her boyfriend a few hours earlier. The boyfriend then went to the biological father’s house and picked the boys up. From here nobody knows what happened, the next time they were seen, they were dead in the backseat of a vehicle.
So why is this so important? Casey Anthony was using “other means” to find her daughter and never contacted police to say she was missing. She went 31 days and it … (2 comments)

mold: Casey Anthony - 07/23/11 02:32 AM
There is so much hype surrounding the Casey Anthony murder trial, that I felt inclined to have my say. To give you a background on how much attention I paid to this trial, well I didn’t. When Caylee disappeared a few years ago, I was very much involved. I have a daughter that is her age and was very upset and worried about Caylee, as well as feared for my daughter because so many children seemed to be turning up missing or dead. A friend of mine went down to Florida and helped with the search party and even spoke to … (1 comments)

mold: My Dog is Sick! - 07/23/11 02:31 AM
I am by no means a veterinarian, nor do I claim to be a wizard when it comes to pets health, but this past week I left for Washington D.C. and came home to a very sick dog. Our family pet means the world to us. She is our protector, our snuggle pooch, and our best friend. To see her this ill for the first time in 7 years is quite devastating and nobody was quite sure what to do but run her to the vet…problem was, it was Sunday and an emergency vet expects full payment upfront. If you have … (0 comments)

mold: Keeping your exterior home clean - 07/23/11 02:28 AM
There are very obvious reasons why you need to keep the inside of your home clean. Not only does having a clean home help keep you in good health, but also creates a better breathing environment and helps your mental state. Having your home organized and shiny is a daily routine for most any house hold, but what about your home’s exterior?
Keeping up with the outside of your home is as equally important as keeping up with the inside. Regularly scheduled exterior cleaning will aid in finding any rotting wood, siding problems and repairs that need to get made. It … (0 comments)
