Subdivision with vision - Arbor Creek, Olathe, Kansas
A community within a community!  The developers of Arbor Creek, a new sub-division here in Olathe, Kansas began by putting together a truly interesting concept that has turned into a highy sought after community.  The reality is there homes, estates homes, townhomes, a daycare, a small cafe, small mom and pop shopping centers, dry cleaning, a bank, a doctor's clinic and a small park with a fountain.  I'm sure there are more businesses I should mention, but they escape me right now.

The first phase of homes started with three price ranges including townhomes and estate homes.  During this … (1 comments)

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
I will have to say that I'm a little jealous of the extreme makeover home edition show.  The show recently aired it's second extreme makeover show here in Kansas City and I missed this one and the first one.  I don't seem to know when these projects are getting started so I can put my name in the hat to volunteer for the Kansas City home edition project.
I have had the pleasure of being the project coordinator for a Kansas City Habitat for Humanity home project that the organization I was working for at the time sponsored and I can tell you there is a … (9 comments)

community: The Story of Mother's Day - 05/12/07 04:31 PM
Okay we all know Mother's Day is here!
What have we done to show for it?  We may have sent our wive's and mother's flowers, called them, taken them out for a special meal, but have we really told them that we love them?  What does that mean to us or more importantly to them?  Have we thought about trying to keep this same spirit of respect we have for them for more than this one day?  Do we think about them through-out the year?  Don't they deserve to have our respect for more than this one day?
I'm sure you are thinking yeah, I do that, but I would ask you this.  How many times … (6 comments)

Olathe, Kansas, a great place to live, work, learn, shop, and play! Although Olathe is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation (U.S. Census), it retains a hometown flavor with a quality of life second to none. In fact, it was ranked not long ago as the "Thirteenth Best City" in which to live in the central United States (Money magazine). Ask Olatheans why they choose to live in this community, and they will cite the following reasons:

America's Top 10 Places to Live, and the winner is Asheville, NC!
The population of Asheville, N.C., is only about 70,000, but this midsize city ranked No. 1 on a list of the most popular places to live in 2007. Asheville made its second appearance on Relocate-America.com's annual top 10 list, compiled each year since 1998. The site attracts visitors in the process of relocating and is aimed at helping people research cities before making a move. The web site is a service of HomeRoute, a Howell, Mich.-based company that also connects consumers to Realtors. Below are the top 10 cities on Relocate-America.com's "America's … (16 comments)

Homeowners rated the top 10 technologies at the International Builders' Show.
The most technologically savvy homeowners bask in crystal-clear television screens when they're home and can control the lights while they're out of town. Without moving an inch, they can decide what music is playing in each room and can monitor the well being of their aging mother in a different city.
So says Greg Hoshaw, owner of High Definition Systems in St. Charles, Ill., who presented the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association's top 10 "must have" technology trends for homes at the International Builders' Show.

Branson Missouri has developed into quite a place!
My wife and I decided to take a couple of days off and enjoy our 27th anniversary by getting out of Kansas City. We decided to go to Branson, Missouri.  We visit Branson, Missouri about two or three times a year and each time we are amazed at the development that is happened after each visit to Branson, Missouri.
The new Branson Landing has developed into a world class water front.  I have had the pleasure of visiting several water front creations in various US cities (New Orleans, LA; Monterey Bay, CA; San Diego, CA, Seattle, WA, Philadelphia, PA, and a … (3 comments)

Kansas City and 10,000 Rain Gardens
Here in Kansas City, the former mayor presented a campaign of 10,000 Rain Gardens to help with water run off.  Little by little, homes and communities are taking on this project and I think it is worth reporting on.  So, here's some of the information presented on the web site, RainKC.com.  Kind of goes with the ActiveRain theme don't you think!
Creating a Rain Garden
1. Performing a percolation test. Dig a coffee-can sized hole where the deepest part of the rain garden will be. Fill the hole with water. Mark the water level with a popsicle stick.

community: Determining a Market Niche? - 05/02/07 03:39 PM
What is your Marketing Niche?
How many of us real estate professionals (if we are honest) have focused our marketing efforts too broadly?  Then we wonder why we have such little success. The solution? Determine and develop your niche market.  Niche marketing is the process of focusing on a defined segment of a much larger market.
So, how do you develop your niche?
Step 1: Identify what you do best, your niche. If you are unsure of what this is, begin by writing down all the possible niches you could serve based on your location, expertise and interests. Consider your expertise. Do you speak a … (33 comments)

Well, I'm asking for your help in putting together a listing of those "one liners" that you remember from a movie, a play or theatre that gives you inspiration, food for thought or just a good hearty laugh or two!
Here's one I remember that I like and here's why.  It comes from "Patch Adams", where there's a … (7 comments)
