Today is Veteran's Day, we all know that. It's blasted out on TV and there are signs everywhere but what are you doing to make today special and to truly acknowledge the men and women of the armed services ? This weekend, in many local communities, there were parades. Yes, we had all the usual things like marching bands from the local schools, floats with people waving to the crowds gathered, all that and so much more. We also had veterans from each service; the people who did what had to be done to make our life what it is today. People who sacrificed their bodies and minds to do the job of our armed services and protect our country. I am not a veterinarian or an authority on dog health but I saw a troubling story on the local news and feel dog lovers and owners need to know this. Today is Halloween, my Mom's favorite holiday. No, she wasn't into ghoulish things; she was into children. Today, a military blimp broke loose from it's moorings and flew adrift in the wind for hundreds of miles. As it aimlessly floated along, completely uncontrolled; it did damage along it's path causing inconvenience and threatening people's well being. What do you do ? How do you stop it ? Once free from the safety and control of it's owner, it was able to cause damage for thousands of people. This weekend as we set our clocks back an hour, please be sure to change your smoke detector batteries. The fire service recommends changing them when the time changes to avoid that annoying chirping sound at 2 AM in the morning. This recommendation is based on research and the inability to tell how long the batteries you bought were on the store shelf before your purchase.
