md: Sergios - Best Place for Valentines Day Dinner in Downtown Silver Spring - 02/10/13 02:10 PM
The most romantic place for Dinner in Silver Spring is a small, suptuous italian restaurant called Sergios.
It is intimate, quiet and dark, like a cozy cave, the wait staff are attentive, the drinks are good, the food is Real Native Italian, Generous and Excellent! (especially the veal dishes).  The atmosphere is understated thick white tablecloth elegant and romantic.
Nothing beats having that warm, friendly, personal greeting from Sergio Toni, the owner, a native of Rome and now a Silver Springer.   Sergio has been involved with this restaurant since 1982 when it was Mamma Reginas.
Sergios has been on the top of the list for generations of people as that special … (1 comments)

md: Famous People's Houses in Takoma Park, Md - Sarah Ban Breathnach - 12/08/07 07:30 AM
One of my favorite authors, Sarah Ban Breathnach lived in this colonial house in Takoma Park, Md.  She lived here from 1980 to 1998.  This is the house where she wrote my all time favorite book - Simple Abundance - a daybook of comfort and joy.  The book was published in 1995 and became a runaway bestseller after Sarah made an appearance on Oprah.I got my, now dog eared, well worn copy of this book in 1998.  This book never ceases to amaze me.  The book is set up as daily meditations, there is a meditation for every day of the … (1 comments)

md: Thanks for the Montgomery County MD PLUG on National TV Jim Cramer! and I Just Love your Dog! - 10/04/07 04:13 AM
I don't know how I missed this! I don't watch much TV,  that's why - I found this today while reading a Local Silver Spring Blog!  On Sept 28, the day after Jim Cramer's famous rant about real estate, the Today Show's Matt Lauer had Cramer and our NAR President elect side by side for an interview about Jim's statement:  Don't you DARE buy a house right now! In this interview he conceded that there were only 3 areas in the United States where it would be OK to buy right now, the first -Seattle, Washington, the second - A Zip Code (10005) in Manhattan and last but … (3 comments)

md: Best Kept Secret for Dog Owners in Silver Spring, Md - 09/13/07 07:07 AM
I just discovered a great Doggie Daycare place for Charlie.  The best part about it, it's only a 3-5 minute drive from my house.  It's Clever Dog.  This is Charlie's 2nd Day there.  He went for the first time on Tuesday. He comes home happy and tired when he's been to Daycare. He can be with other dogs in a pack or he can play with them.  He gets walked every few hours and the staff plays with him.  The place is clean and very spacious.  They have the dogs separated by personality and size. Another cool thing is they have a live NANNY CAM or Doggie … (11 comments)

md: Searching for Sushi in Silver Spring, MD - 08/23/07 04:29 AM

I have finally found the best Sushi in Silver Spring!  I am very picky about my sushi, for years I would drive to Bethesda or have to head up the dreaded (crowded, congested with a traffic light every 1/4 mile) Rockville Pike to have sushi, because there was no place to get it in Silver Spring.  For a while, a sushi place opened up in Downtown Silver Spring, it was, to say the least, horrible sushi and a kinda scary place.  I don't remember the name of it because it was gone in less than a year.

I was delighted when Whole Foods got Sushi … (4 comments)

md: Silver Spring, Md Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks Connection - 08/18/07 01:24 AM

The song Silver Springs was written by Stevie Nicks.   Legend has it that she got the idea while riding in a limo on the Capitol Beltway after a concert and seeing the sign for the Silver Spring, Maryland Exit.  Die-Hard Silver Springers and native residents will tell you they hate it when anyone makes Silver Spring plural.  That extra S drives a lot of us crazy (especially when a public offical makes this FAUX PAS!) if you listen carefully to the song Stevie never uses the plural or the dreaded extra S in the song.  The only place you'll find that extra S is in the … (3 comments)
