The Silver Spring Historical Society will be conducting a walking tour on Saturday, September 1st, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  The highlight of the tour will be the original Silver Spring, located in Acorn Park.  An added bonus will be seeing  the Big Acorn.  Silver Spring gets it's name from this "mica-flecked" spring discovered in 1840 by Francis Preston Blair (Founder of Silver Spring, Maryland) while horseback riding in the country with his daughter. The tour will include other historic sites around the restored 1940's Baltimore and Ohio Train Station.Cost is $5.00 Reservations are Required:Phone (301) 537-1253  or   Email:  SSHistory@yahoo.comMeet at … (1 comments)
