When it comes to hardwood floors, buffing means that you “scuff up” or abrade the floor, and then you apply a coat of polyurethane for protection and sheen. Some customers call this a "light sanding," but technically, it's a screen and recoat since you are not sanding the wood. Rather, you are sanding the top layer of polyurethane. When you buff the floors, you are able to change the finish (e.g. go from a semi gloss to a satin finish), but you are not able to change the color (that would require a full sanding).

Good news - I've had my strongest sales week ever. Wow, what a whirl wind of activity. It's happened again...I've met/spoken w/ 3 people in the last week with closings mid week and planning to move in over the weekend and would like new flooring and refinishing work before they move. This is next to impossible. Don't forget the following when it comes to flooring (or refinishing hardwood floors). If you are installing new materials such as hardwood or carpet, don't forget about delivery time. I usually allow 2 weeks. Sometimes it comes sooner; sometimes it takes longer.
