delta county: I Didn't Recognize My Uncle... - 05/25/13 12:03 AM
I Didn't Recognize My Uncle... in his Marine dress blues. He was beautiful  I was only 3 years old or there abouts. It had been a while since we had seen him. He had been in a place I didn't understand called, Vietnam. Uncle Bill was on leave and came home to visit me. He knocked on the front door, and nobody we knew used that door, and I had to get mommy to answer the door. He went against his father's wishes. He went against his sisters' wishes. We had a large family. I wish I could paint a picture for you … (47 comments)

delta county: Brookdale Subdivision, Cedaredge, Colorado - 06/25/12 08:50 AM
Brookdale Subdivision, Cedaredge, Colorado. All homes in this established neighborhood have at least two acres, so it's a great place for horses, or that hobby farm. Brookdale Subdivision sits just outside of Cedaredge, Colorado for that country feel, yet you are less than two miles from town.
The north end of Brookdale Subdivision has great views of Grand Mesa and larger parcels. Cedaredge Land Company has one listed right now that includes a large pond suitable for fish and eight acres with a very large house.

delta county: The After Effects of Carelessness...Cedaredge Fire, Delta County, Colorado - 06/11/12 10:42 AM
The After Effects of Carelessness...Cedaredge Fire, Delta County, Colorado. In spite of the Delta County fire ban, and noticeable winds, some people decided to burn some weeds around their house. The upper end of the Surface Creek Road area outside of Cedaredge, CO, caught on fire. One young man was hospitalized with injuries received from trying to warn the very neighbors that started the fire.
The picture to the left shows the after effect of the Cedaredge Fire. Both Delta and Montrose County, Colorado, have a fire ban in effect. This means no open fires, agricultural burning, fireworks of any kind and weed burning. Oops, … (16 comments)

delta county: Scenes From The Cedaredge Fire, Delta County, Colorado - 06/08/12 11:58 AM
Scenes From The Cedaredge Fire, Delta County, Colorado. At about 2:00 this afternoon you could hear a steady stream of sirens heading north out of town. With the hot, dry weather we've been having, this could only mean one thing. Every truck our volunteer fire department has is in use right now. Other area fire departments are also on the scene, with some firefighters coming from as far away as Montrose, Colorado. That's about 50 miles away.
The slurry planes and helicopters are on the scene, too. This helicopter is grabbing water from a pond just a quarter of a mile … (11 comments)

Down A Little Known Quiet Residential Street Lies A Piece of Delta County History. This tree is estimated to be over 200 years old, and it's the place where the Ute Indians were known to gather. In the 1800s the Ute Indians held council here in an attempt to keep peace between the Indians and white settlers.
The tree is dedicated to Chief Ouray and his wife, Chipeta. Just off of Hwy 65 on G 86 Rd, Delta, Colorado stands the Council Tree. There is a sign on the highway to direct you to the tree.

delta county: Where Else Can You See A Bunch of REALTORS® In Short Pants Breathing Hard??? - 09/24/11 11:26 AM
Confluence Park in Delta, Colorado was a hot spot today for REALTORS® having fun for a good cause. Today was the first annual (hopefully) Charity Challenge 5K. It was sponsored by Land Title to benefit the Delta County Board of REALTORS® Giving Fund. Land Title matched the funds we raised, and I think it came to over $600.00. The money goes into a fund to help out a local family in need. The event was a lot of fun, and about 30 REALTORS® turned out. The park is a great setting for any kind of gathering, and we got to enjoy … (3 comments)

delta county: My Husband Has Come Up With An Innovative Idea to Beat Rising Gas Prices - 08/29/11 03:27 PM
It's a bit difficult to take clients with you to show property, but it's a lot cheaper to maintain than a 3/4 ton pickup. Dan worked on this for two days with a buddy, and they had it up and running by early this afternoon. The frame is from an old outdated 21 speed Gary Fisher mountain bike.
It met all the specs and Dan and Ted attached a motor and gas tank to the old frame. It was so funny to see them motoring around our small mountain town. This "new" bike really got a lot of attention. He has a … (33 comments)

delta county: The Cedaredge Tennis Courts Are Sporting a New Look - 08/29/11 01:25 PM
After a couple of failed attempts, the town of Cedaredge was finally able to get the tennis courts resurfaced. The money came mostly from lottery funds. This year, thanks to a letter writing campaign, the town was able to get the grant money to get the job done. The new surface looks great, and the walls have been painted, too. The nets just went back up last week. Now all that has to be done, is to get the hitting walls in place.

My daugher plays tennis and she can't wait to try out  the new surface. Way to … (7 comments)

delta county: Palisade, CO Does It Again With Yet Another Successful Festival - 07/16/11 02:51 PM
Herbs are now joining the ranks of successful festivals at beautiful Palisade, Colorado. The historic small town was host to this state's FIRST ever Lavender Festival. I must say it was a big success for it's first year. There were over 30 vendors with many different kinds of wares. You could get any kind of lavender body care product you wanted, as well as food, tye died T shirts, candles and herb plants of all kinds. I was really surpised at all the different items for sale. I was also amazed at the turn out. I thought I would be able to pull … (6 comments)

delta county: What Does It Mean To You??? Good Or Bad, UnEducated or NOT - 06/26/11 07:29 PM
Some of us go through our careers just doing the minimum amount of education. We do what we have to do to get by and and we are busy people. I understand this to a point. Recently someone has been blogging and asking about what the GRI designation means. What does it mean to consumers? Some know what this means. Some don't. Does having a bunch of letters after your name, make you stand out...maybe. I don't know this for a fact, but what I do know is that I have taken the time to complete a long course to get … (25 comments)

delta county: You Just Never Know What You Are Going To Find At A Foreclosure House - 06/16/11 06:59 PM
I had to do an interior inspection on a Freddie Mac property. I've done plenty of these, and some of the houses are in poor condition. This one is in good condition and will show well. I inspected the property and it was a nice day so I left the front door open. When I walked out the front door I was greeted by this little guy.
He climbed the bricks and then followed me around like a puppy.
I called my friend that runs the no kill humance society and has done wildlife rehab. I hope she was able to … (22 comments)

delta county: What is the best use you've found for your Tablet??? - 05/04/11 04:37 PM
Even in my advanced years...as my teenager likes to remind me, I'm still trying to keep up with the technology. I just recently upgraded to a smart phone and then took it one step further and bought a tablet a few weeks later. The tablet uses the Android technology....the same as my phone. I like the little thing and can see the advantages of carrying it around instead of my laptop.
My question to all of you is...What is the best use you've found for your tablet??? I"ve installed the mortage calculator app and other apps I find appealing. But I'm curious … (25 comments)
