christmas: Merry Christmas 2019 from Our House to Yours - 12/24/19 10:06 AM

Christmas magic is in the air. What a beautiful time of the year. Not just the decorations and the promise of surprise, but the feeling in our hearts. Especially, the feeling in our hearts. The warmth, love, and joy we find in spending time with one another. If you find yourself alone, remember to tap into the energy that unites us all. You're never really alone.

Savor the moments, and breathe. Merry Christmas from our house to yours.

christmas: The Magic of a Christmas Tree - 12/02/18 09:49 AM

It's always such a thrill to put up the tree each year. It's warm glow transforms our Great room into a magical wonderland. When it's time to take it down, although ready for the New Year, a part of us can't help but wish the magic of the season would linger on.

A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree!
With dark green needled memories
Of childhood dreams and mysteries
Wrapped present-like in front of me.
A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree!
I glimpse a past wherein i see
The child that then grew into me
Not forward fast but haltingly.
A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree!
A time for being … (28 comments)

christmas: Twas the Days Before Christmas - Tales of December Sales - 12/11/17 12:10 PM

Twas the days before Christmas and all through the house,
the excitement was building, nowhere was a mouse!
The stockings were packed in a box with great care,
ready for hired movers who soon would be there.
The offer's accepted, the inspection is done,
Surprisingly enough, this adventure has been fun!
Who would have dreamed, just a few weeks ago,
Our house would be Sold and we'd be nearly ready to go.
Sold at full price to people well-vetted,
there weren't any concerns over what would be netted.
Mama and I will be awash in our glee,

christmas: Happy Home for the Holidays from Camas, WA - 12/21/14 11:20 PM
Home for the Holidays - A December Challenge
Debbie Laity has encouraged us to share our Home for the Holidays this year in Active Rain. It's a December challenge that spreads seasonal joy and earns you 500 extra points.
Debbie has asked us to choose any local scene, or our own home. In addition, the posts should be around 200 words. Easy peasy, right?
The Christmas season is my favorite time of the year. Twinkling lights, candles, fireplaces, and time spent with family and friends create magical moments.
Nature has a stark beauty about it too, and provides us an interesting canvas … (23 comments)

christmas: Merry Christmas to All - No Matter Your Style! - 12/20/13 12:03 AM
Merry Christmas to All - No Matter Your Style

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the hood, the tasteful lights twinkled and things looked so good.
The homes were quite merry, so warm and so bright. They brought welcome pleasure as day turned to night.
When out on one lawn there arose such a clatter, I slowed down my car to see what was the matter.
And what to my wondering eyes should appear, “A Big Plastic Snowman,” I exclaimed with much fear.
The huge hulking object swayed to and fro, oh so soft, while a motor nearby hummed … (39 comments)

christmas: These are a Few of My Favorite Things! - 12/11/13 01:10 AM
These are a Few of My Favorite Things!
We all have things that speak to us more than others. In my case, whimsy appeals to me. Playful and fanciful representations are reminders to view the world with eyes of wonder, perhaps with a good dose of humor.
And, since nature is associated with quaint beings such as gnomes, elves, and fairies, they are particularly delightful when seen through these eyes. As I wandered through the house this morning,  I was overcome with the Christmas spirit and wanted to share a few of my favorite things.

christmas: Owl be home for Christmas - Clark County, WA owls - 12/11/12 10:56 PM
Owl be home for Christmas - Clark County, WA owls. There’s an owl making itself at home in our Christmas tree this year.  Actually, it’s a replica of a snowy owl. Since my roots include years spent in Alaska, the beautiful white bird reminds me of home and brings back fond memories.
Snowy owls make their real home in the Arctic tundra including Alaska and Canada. Their white feathers not only help to hide them from predators, but gives them an ethereal look - almost magical. Think of Hedwig in the Harry Potter series.
Owls and their habitat in … (20 comments)
