customer service: Back in a Mickey Minute - A Lesson in Customer Service - 12/22/20 09:43 AM
This year, we ordered one of the sought after toys of the season, "The Child Real Moves," from the Disney hit TV show, "The Mandalorians." It was ordered online through the Disney store in early November, with a ship date of around November 20th. Unfortunately, it didn't ship by that date and I (Debb), was concerned enough to call Disney to find out if it would make it by December 25th - the magical day for the kids in our family.

The wait would be about 40 minutes, if  I chose to remain on hold. Since neither of us has had great … (51 comments)

customer service: Great Customer Service - It's not something I take for Granted. - 01/04/12 09:41 AM

Do you get all warm and sappy with great customer service? I do. It's not something I take for granted. Perhaps, one day, we'll live in a world where appreciation for customers is the rule, instead of the exception.
Recently, I experienced great customer service at a local Starbucks. The shop was crowded and an acquaintance and I wanted to discuss something in relative privacy. Unbeknown to us, one of the baristas noticed our plight.
We settled for two big chairs located in a corner, not ideal, but it was the best we could manage given the situation. We … (16 comments)

customer service: Thanks for going "Above and Beyond" - Oh wait, I didn't. - 08/12/11 05:34 AM
Thanks for going "Above and Beyond" - Oh wait, I didn't.

When the doorbell rang on Wednesday evening, it brought with it an unexpected surprise. A flower delivery!  As I carried the flowers inside, my mind raced with the "who and the why."  It wasn't an anniversary or a birthday, and my husband didn't have anything to apologize for - or did he?

It turns out - no, he didn't. And, when I opened the attached card, it read, "Thanks for going "Above and Beyond," it meant so very much to us," signed by my clients. We … (19 comments)

customer service: Wedge Salad - Always a Classic - 07/27/11 07:11 AM

Wedge Salad - Always a Classic.
Last season, on a TV episode of " Modern Family,"  Claire and Phil get into a huge fight due to a misunderstanding over a Wedge Salad.  I must interject, my husband and I would never fight over something as trivial as a wedge salad, a TV show maybe, but never a stupid salad.
The fight actually stemmed from Claire’s belief that Phil wasn’t really listening to her, and I get that part clearly. We all want to be heard. But, what I love most, is that the same iceberg lettuce wedge my mom used … (5 comments)

customer service: Good Friend, Good Person, Good Realtor - 05/15/11 06:50 AM
A dear friend of mine, and a fellow Realtor was in town over the weekend. She is a determined person who has faced a lot of personal challenges over the years with quiet resolve and dignity. Since we haven’t seen each another for seven years, we spent Friday night sitting on my couch, drinking a good bottle of wine and catching up. Once the, “How are the kids, parents and mutual friends,” questions were answered, we turned to the topic of Real Estate.  Her market is depressed in pricing, but active in new buyer and investor sales. Often she spends weeks … (3 comments)
